In mehr als vier Jahrzehnten aktiver Tätigkeit avancierte er zu einem der bekanntesten Modefotografen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Seine zeitlosen Modeaufnahmen sind vielfach zu Ikonen geworden und haben das visuelle Gedächtnis ganzer Generationen geprägt. Neben F.C. Gundlachs prägnanter Formen- und Bildsprache, basiert ein essentieller Teil seines Erfolges auf seiner frühen und ausgeprägten Reisetätigkeit, die ihn wie keinen anderen Modefotografen der deutschen Nachkriegsära um den gesamten Globus führte. 500.000 Meilen reiste F.C. Gundlach von Location zu Location um die Welt.
Die Ausstellung 500.000 Meilen – mit F.C. Gundlach um die Welt zeigt mit mehr als 100 Exponaten in schwarz-weiss und Farbe einen repräsentativen Ausschnitt über die klare Bildsprache sowie die ästhetische Haltung des Fotografen. Sie bietet Einblick in seine kulturellen Interessen sowie die bisweilen abenteuerlichen Umstände, unter denen seine Bilder überall auf der Welt entstanden.
Zu sehen sind bekannte Ikone ebenso wie noch nie gezeigte Motive als Vintages und grossformatige Neu-Abzüge.

En plus de quarante ans d'activité, il est devenu l'un des photographes de mode les plus célèbres du XXe siècle. Ses photographies de mode intemporelles sont souvent devenues des icônes et ont façonné la mémoire visuelle de générations entières. Outre le langage formel et visuel concis de F.C. Gundlach, une partie essentielle de son succès est basée sur son activité de voyage précoce et prononcée, qui l'a mené autour du monde comme aucun autre photographe de mode de l'après-guerre allemand. F.C. Gundlach a parcouru 500 000 milles d'un endroit à l'autre dans le monde.
L'exposition 500'000 Miles - Around the World avec F.C. Gundlach présente avec plus de 100 expositions en noir et blanc et en couleur un extrait représentatif du langage visuel clair du photographe et de son attitude esthétique. Il offre un aperçu de ses intérêts culturels et des circonstances parfois aventureuses dans lesquelles ses photos ont été prises dans le monde entier.
Des icônes bien connues sont exposées, ainsi que des motifs inédits tels que des millésimes et de nouvelles estampes grand format.

In more than four decades of active activity, he became one of the most famous fashion photographers of the 20th century. His timeless fashion photographs have often become icons and have shaped the visual memory of entire generations. In addition to F.C. Gundlach's concise formal and visual language, an essential part of his success is based on his early and pronounced travel activity, which led him around the globe like no other fashion photographer of the German post-war era. F.C. Gundlach traveled 500,000 miles from location to location around the world.
The exhibition 500,000 Miles - Around the World with F.C. Gundlach shows with more than 100 exhibits in black and white and color a representative excerpt of the photographer's clear visual language and aesthetic attitude. It offers an insight into his cultural interests and the sometimes adventurous circumstances under which his pictures were taken all over the world.
On display are well-known icons as well as never-before-seen motifs as vintages and large-format new prints.
