Im Rahmen von Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2023 ist Foam stolz darauf, Seahorse Parents der renommierten Filmemacherin und Fotografin Miriam Guttmann zu präsentieren. In diesem Projekt untersucht Guttmann Geschlecht und Identität und stellt dabei die vorherrschenden kulturellen Vorstellungen von Weiblichkeit und Männlichkeit in Frage. Die skurrilen Bilder der Künstlerin beleuchten und feiern das Bild von schwangeren Transgender-Personen.
In der Serie präsentieren sich vier schwangere Transgender-Männer stolz als "Seepferdchen-Eltern", denn das Seepferdchen ist die einzige Art im gesamten Tierreich, bei der die Männchen die Babys austragen. Wie soll ein schwangerer Körper aussehen? Wie navigieren diese schwangeren Transgender-Männer durch eine voreingenommene Welt? Und in welche Welt hoffen die Eltern, ihre Kinder zu bringen?
Während die sich ändernden Gesetze in den Vereinigten Staaten es für transsexuelle und nicht-binäre Menschen immer schwieriger machen, die Kontrolle über ihren Körper und ihre Entscheidungen zu behalten, nahm Liam (der in den USA lebt) an dem Projekt teil:
"Ich möchte, dass der Betrachter sieht, dass transsexuelle und nicht-binäre Menschen genauso sind wie alle anderen Menschen und dass wir den gleichen Wunsch haben, unsere Familien zu gründen und zu lieben wie gleichgeschlechtliche Menschen. In Seahorse Parents geht es darum, unsere Geschichten in die Welt hinauszutragen. Es zeigt unsere aufstrebenden Familien im schönsten Licht."
Miriam Guttmann (geb. 1994) ist eine in Amsterdam lebende Dokumentarfilmerin und Fotografin. In ihrer Arbeit möchte Miriam sensible Themen wie Identität, Eltern-Kind-Beziehungen, Sexualität und soziale Ungerechtigkeit ansprechen. Durch ihre offene Haltung versucht sie, die Nuancen ihrer Themen in einer Gesellschaft, die zu Schwarz-Weiß-Denken neigt, aufzuzeigen, um Empathie und Verlässlichkeit zu schaffen.
Ihre dreiteilige Serie Seeds of Deceit wurde für das prestigeträchtige Sundance Film Festival und den Prix Europa ausgewählt und wurde vom niederländischen Fernsehen VPRO (2021) ausgestrahlt. Ihr gleichnamiger Abschlussfilm wurde mit mehreren internationalen Preisen ausgezeichnet. Im Jahr 2020 führte Guttmann Regie bei dem Dokumentarfilm The Laws of the Sea, der für einen Tegel, den renommiertesten niederländischen Preis für Journalismus, nominiert wurde. Derzeit arbeitet sie an zwei abendfüllenden Dokumentarfilmen mit den Titeln Front Row und Sanda Dia, die 2024 und 2025 erscheinen sollen.
Dans le cadre de Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2023, Foam est fier de présenter Seahorse Parents de la célèbre cinéaste et photographe Miriam Guttmann. Dans ce projet, Guttmann étudie le genre et l'identité tout en remettant en question les idées culturelles dominantes de la féminité et de la masculinité. Les images fantaisistes de l'artiste mettent en lumière et célèbrent l'image des personnes transgenres enceintes.
Dans la série, quatre hommes transgenres enceintes se présentent fièrement comme des "parents hippocampes", l'hippocampe étant la seule espèce de tout le règne animal où les mâles portent les bébés. À quoi le corps d'une femme enceinte est-il "censé" ressembler ? Comment ces hommes transgenres enceintes naviguent-ils dans un monde biaisé ? Et dans quel monde les parents espèrent-ils faire entrer leurs enfants ?
Alors que l'évolution des lois aux États-Unis fait qu'il est de plus en plus difficile pour les personnes transgenres et non binaires de garder le contrôle de leur corps et de leurs choix, Liam (qui est basé aux États-Unis) a participé au projet :
"Je veux que le spectateur voie que les personnes trans et non binaires sont des personnes comme les autres, et que nous avons le même désir de grandir et d'aimer nos familles que les personnes cisgenres. Seahorse Parents a pour but de faire connaître nos histoires au monde entier. Il montre nos familles naissantes sous leur plus beau jour".
Miriam Guttmann (née en 1994) est une réalisatrice de documentaires et une photographe basée à Amsterdam. Dans son travail, Miriam cherche à aborder des sujets sensibles tels que l'identité, les relations parents-enfants, la sexualité et l'injustice sociale. Par son attitude ouverte, elle s'efforce de montrer les nuances de ses sujets dans une société encline à la pensée noire et blanche, afin de susciter l'empathie et la fiabilité.
Sa série en trois parties Seeds of Deceit a été sélectionnée pour le prestigieux festival du film de Sundance, le Prix Europa et a été diffusée à la télévision néerlandaise par la VPRO (2021). Son film de fin d'études, portant le même titre, a remporté plusieurs prix internationaux. En 2020, Mme Guttmann a réalisé le documentaire The Laws of the Sea, qui a été nominé pour un Tegel, le prix néerlandais le plus renommé en matière de journalisme. Elle travaille actuellement sur deux longs métrages documentaires intitulés Front Row et Sanda Dia, qui sortiront en 2024 et 2025
Nell'ambito del Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2023, Foam è orgoglioso di presentare Seahorse Parents della famosa regista e fotografa Miriam Guttmann. In questo progetto, Guttmann indaga il genere e l'identità sfidando le idee culturali prevalenti di femminilità e mascolinità. Le immagini stravaganti dell'artista mettono in risalto e celebrano l'immagine delle persone transgender incinte.
Nella serie, quattro transgender incinte si presentano con orgoglio come "genitori di cavallucci marini", poiché il cavalluccio marino è l'unica specie dell'intero regno animale in cui i maschi sono i portatori del bambino. Come dovrebbe essere il corpo di un uomo incinto? Come fanno questi transgender incinti a navigare in un mondo distorto? E in quale mondo i genitori sperano di far nascere i loro figli?
Mentre le leggi in evoluzione negli Stati Uniti rendono sempre più difficile per le persone trans e non binarie mantenere il controllo sul proprio corpo e sulle proprie scelte, Liam (che vive negli Stati Uniti) ha partecipato al progetto:
"Voglio che lo spettatore veda che le persone trans e non binarie sono proprio come tutte le altre persone, e che abbiamo lo stesso desiderio di crescere e amare le nostre famiglie come le persone cisgender. Seahorse Parents vuole mettere le nostre storie al mondo. Mostra le nostre famiglie in erba nella luce più bella".

As part of Queer & Pride Amsterdam 2023, Foam is proud to present Seahorse Parents by renowned filmmaker and photographer Miriam Guttmann. In this project, Guttmann investigates gender and identity while challenging prevailing cultural ideas of femininity and masculinity. The artist's whimsical images highlight and celebrate the image of pregnant transgender people.
In the series, four pregnant transgender men proudly present themselves as ‘Seahorse Parents’, as the seahorse is the only species in the entire animal kingdom where the males are the baby carriers. What is a pregnant body ‘supposed’ to look like? How do these pregnant transgender men navigate a biased world? And what world do the parents hope to bring their children into?
While changing laws in the United States make it increasingly difficult for trans and non-binary people to maintain control over their bodies and choices, Liam (who is based in the US) participated in the project:
“I want the viewer to see that trans and non-binary people are just like all other people, and that we have the same desire to grow and love our families as cisgender people do. Seahorse Parents is about putting our stories out into the world. It shows our budding families in the most beautiful light.”
Miriam Guttmann (b. 1994) is an Amsterdam-based documentary director and photographer. In her work, Miriam aims to broach sensitive subjects, such as identity, parent-child relationships, sexuality, and social injustice. Through her open attitude she strives to demonstrate the nuances of her subjects in a society prone to black-and-white thinking, to create empathy and reliability.
Her three-part series Seeds of Deceit was selected for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, Prix Europa and was broadcast on Dutch television by the VPRO (2021). Her graduation film, with the same title, won several international awards. In 2020, Guttmann directed the documentary The Laws of the Sea, which was nominated for a Tegel, the most renowned Dutch prize for journalism. She is currently working on two feature-length documentaries called Front Row and Sanda Dia to be released in 2024 and 2025.
