Ebenso elegant wie provokativ, so dynamisch wie cool, so kreativ wie stilbildend: das Werk des britischen Starfotografen Rankin hat viele Facetten und längst zählt er zu den gefragtesten und einflussreichen Fotografen unserer Zeit. Die Ausstellung „Rankin Zeitsprünge“ die vom 26. Mai bis zum 27. September 2023 im Ernst Leitz Museum präsentiert wird, gibt spannende und überraschende Einblicke in sein grandioses Werk. Hier werden einige seiner besten Aufnahmen aus über dreißig Jahren vorgestellt. So finden sich in der Ausstellung viele ikonische Porträts und Celebrity Shots, die längs t Zeitgeschichte geschrieben haben, krachbunte Beauty und klassische Modeaufnahmen, ebenso wie Beispiele aus seinen tiefgründigen konzeptionellen Serien. Unter dem Titel „ verbinden sich die Motive aus den 1990er bis 2000er Jahren dialogisch mit brandneuen und noch nie veröffentlichten Aufnahmen aus 2023.
Vor seiner Kamera waren bereits die berühmtesten Größen aus Politik und Showgeschäft: Elizabeth II., Vivienne Westwood, Ewan McGregor, Björk, Heidi Klum, David Bowie die Reihe lässt sic h beliebig fortsetzen. Dass Rankin weit mehr als ein Fashion- und Lifestylefotograf ist, hat er eindrücklich mit seiner Leidenschaft für Magazine belegt. Zu Beginn der 1990er Jahre gründete er zusammen mit Jefferson Hack das damals provokanteste Zeitgeist Magazin Dazed Confused, eine Mischung verschiedener Genres wie Mode, Grafik, Design und Fotografie. Seine Editorials für zahlreiche internationale Magazine ließen ihn zu einem viel beschäftigten Fotografen und Gestalter werden. Darüber hinaus ist er auch längst in der Filmwelt zu Hause. Neben langen TV Filmen entstanden über die Jahre zahllose Musikvideos und auch hier liest sich die Künstlerliste wie ein Who’s Who der Musikszene.
Als Fotograf, Filmemacher, Publizist und Gestalter hat Rankin ohne Zweifel ganze Generationen begeistert und inspiriert. Bis heute erfindet er immer wieder rastlos neue kreative Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten der Fotografie gerne auch mit Leica Kameras. Die Ausstellung „ ist eine Einladung, in die unvergleichliche Rankin Welt einzutauchen.
Aussi élégante que provocante, aussi dynamique que cool, aussi créative que créatrice de style : l'œuvre du photographe vedette britannique Rankin présente de nombreuses facettes et il compte depuis longtemps parmi les photographes les plus demandés et les plus influents de notre époque. L'exposition "Rankin Zeitsprünge", qui sera présentée du 26 mai au 27 septembre 2023 au musée Ernst Leitz, donne des aperçus passionnants et surprenants de son œuvre grandiose. Quelques-uns de ses meilleurs clichés, pris sur plus de trente ans, y sont présentés. L'exposition présente ainsi de nombreux portraits iconiques et des photos de célébrités qui ont marqué l'histoire contemporaine, des photos de beauté aux couleurs vives et des photos de mode classiques, ainsi que des exemples de ses séries conceptuelles profondes. Sous le titre " les motifs des années 1990 à 2000 se combinent de manière dialogique avec des photos flambant neuves et inédites de 2023.
Les plus grands noms de la politique et du show-business ont déjà posé devant son objectif : Elizabeth II, Vivienne Westwood, Ewan McGregor, Björk, Heidi Klum, David Bowie - et la liste est encore longue. La passion de Rankin pour les magazines prouve qu'il est bien plus qu'un photographe de mode et de style de vie. Au début des années 1990, il a fondé avec Jefferson Hack le magazine contemporain le plus provocateur de l'époque, Dazed Confused, un mélange de différents genres comme la mode, le graphisme, le design et la photographie. Ses éditoriaux pour de nombreux magazines internationaux ont fait de lui un photographe et un créateur très occupé. En outre, il est depuis longtemps à l'aise dans le monde du cinéma. Outre de longs films pour la télévision, d'innombrables clips musicaux ont été réalisés au fil des ans et, là aussi, la liste des artistes se lit comme un who's who de la scène musicale.
En tant que photographe, cinéaste, publiciste et créateur, Rankin a sans aucun doute enthousiasmé et inspiré des générations entières. Aujourd'hui encore, il ne cesse d'inventer de nouvelles possibilités d'expression créative de la photographie, notamment avec des appareils Leica. L'exposition "est une invitation à se plonger dans l'univers incomparable de Rankin.

La passione di Rankin per le riviste ha dimostrato in modo impressionante che è molto più di un fotografo di moda e lifestyle. All'inizio degli anni '90, insieme a Jefferson Hack, ha fondato la rivista più provocatoria dello Zeitgeist, Dazed Confused, un mix di generi diversi come moda, grafica, design e fotografia. I suoi editoriali per numerose riviste internazionali lo hanno reso un fotografo e un designer molto impegnato. Da tempo si trova a suo agio anche nel mondo del cinema.
