Nan Goldins (* 1953 in Washington, D.C.) Werk zeichnet sich durch eine einzigartige und eindringliche Darstellung von Intimität, Liebe und gesellschaftlichen Randgruppen aus. Ihre Fotografien sind nicht nur Dokumentationen von Momenten, sondern auch tief emotionale Erzählungen, die das menschliche Dasein in all seinen Facetten einfangen.
Nan Goldins Herangehensweise an die Fotografie ist geprägt von Nähe und Vertrautheit. Goldin taucht in die Welten ihrer Freunde und Liebhaber ein und dokumentiert deren Leben mit einer Authentizität, die oft roh und ungeschminkt ist. Goldins Arbeiten zeichnen sich so durch eine ungeschönte und dennoch empathische Darstellung von Liebe, Schmerz, Verletzlichkeit und Ekstase aus. Ihre Serien sind visuelle Chroniken ihres sozialen Umfelds, geprägt von persönlichen Beziehungen und von denHöhen und Tiefen des Lebens. Dabei spielt sie mit Licht und Farben, um emotionale Atmosphären zu schaffen, die über das Visuelle hinausgehen und tief in die Psyche der Porträtierten eindringen.
Eine besondere Beziehung bestand zu dem Sammler und Fotografen F.C. Gundlach. Er überzeugte Nan Goldin nach eigenen Angaben davon großformatige Abzüge ihrer Diapositive zu produzieren. Die in den späten 1980er und frühen 1990er Jahren entstandenen Arbeiten realisierte der Sammler in direkter Zusammenarbeit mit der Künstlerin in seiner Firma PPS in Hamburg im Cibachromeverfahren. Die von Sabine Schnakenberg kuratierte Ausstellung zeigt nicht nur deutlich die pragmatische Förderung der Künstlerin durch den Sammler mittels der Produktion der Prints, sondern auch eine Erweiterung ihrer Präsentationsform unter anderem für museale und ausstellende Institutionen, aber auch den Kunstmarkt.
Parallel und in inhaltlicher Korrespondenz zur Ausstellung von Franz Gertsch in den Hamburger Deichtorhallen können über 100 Arbeiten von Nan Goldin aus dem Bestand der Sammlung F.C. Gundlach gezeigt werden.

L'approche de Nan Goldin en matière de photographie est marquée par la proximité et la familiarité. Goldin s'immerge dans les univers de ses amis et amants et documente leur vie avec une authenticité souvent brute et sans fard. Le travail de Goldin se caractérise ainsi par une représentation sans fard mais empathique de l'amour, de la douleur, de la vulnérabilité et de l'extase. Ses séries sont des chroniques visuelles de son environnement social, marquées par des relations personnelles et par les hauts et les bas de la vie. Elle joue avec la lumière et les couleurs pour créer des atmosphères émotionnelles qui vont au-delà de l'aspect visuel et pénètrent profondément dans la psyché des sujets.
Une relation particulière existait avec le collectionneur et photographe F.C. Gundlach. Selon ses propres dires, il a convaincu Nan Goldin de produire des tirages grand format de ses diapositives. Le collectionneur a réalisé ces travaux, réalisés à la fin des années 1980 et au début des années 1990, en collaboration directe avec l'artiste dans sa société PPS à Hambourg, selon le procédé cibachrome. L'exposition organisée par Sabine Schnakenberg montre non seulement clairement la promotion pragmatique de l'artiste par le collectionneur au moyen de la production des tirages, mais aussi un élargissement de sa forme de présentation, entre autres pour les institutions muséales et d'exposition, mais aussi pour le marché de l'art.
Parallèlement à l'exposition de Franz Gertsch aux Deichtorhallen de Hambourg et en correspondance avec son contenu, plus de 100 œuvres de Nan Goldin issues de la collection F.C. Gundlach peuvent être présentées.

Le opere create alla fine degli anni '80 e all'inizio degli anni '90 sono state realizzate dal collezionista in diretta collaborazione con l'artista presso la sua azienda PPS di Amburgo, utilizzando il processo Cibachrome. La mostra, curata da Sabine Schnakenberg, non solo mostra chiaramente la promozione pragmatica dell'artista da parte del collezionista attraverso la produzione delle stampe, ma anche un'espansione della sua forma di presentazione per le istituzioni museali ed espositive e per il mercato dell'arte.
Parallelamente alla mostra di Franz Gertsch nella Deichtorhallen di Amburgo e corrispondente nei contenuti, si potranno ammirare oltre 100 opere di Nan Goldin provenienti dalla Collezione F.C. Gundlach.

Goldin immerses herself in the worlds of her friends and lovers, documenting their lives with an authenticity that is often raw and unadorned. Goldin's works are thus characterized by an unembellished yet empathetic portrayal of love, pain, vulnerability and ecstasy. Her series are visual chronicles of her social environment, characterized by personal relationships and the highs and lows of life. She plays with light and color to create emotional atmospheres that go beyond the visual and penetrate deep into the psyche of those portrayed.
She had a special relationship with the collector and photographer F.C. Gundlach. According to Nan Goldin, he convinced her to produce large-format prints of her slides. The works created in the late 1980s and early 1990s were realized by the collector in direct collaboration with the artist at his company PPS in Hamburg using the Cibachrome process. The exhibition, curated by Sabine Schnakenberg, not only clearly shows the pragmatic promotion of the artist by the collector through the production of the prints, but also an expansion of her form of presentation for museum and exhibition institutions as well as the art market.
Parallel to and in correspondence with the exhibition by Franz Gertsch in Hamburg's Deichtorhallen, over 100 works by Nan Goldin from the F.C. Gundlach Collection can be shown.
