Die deutsche Künstlerin Hannah Höch gehört zu den Erfinder:innen des Gen-res der Collage. Die Ausstellung im Zentrum Paul Klee stellt diese Werkgat-tung, von Hannah Höch im Geist des Dadaismus auch Fotomontagen genannt, ins Zentrum – und zeigt diese im Dialog mit dem avantgardistischen Kino der 1920er-Jahre. Hannah Höch verstand das Medium Fotomontage als eng mit dem Film verwandt – als statische Filme auf Papier, die mit Hilfe von Schnitt und Komposition neue Blicke auf die Welt ermöglichen können. Erstmals geht eine Ausstellung Höchs Faszination für das damals neuartige Massen-medium Film nach und macht sichtbar, wie sich die Fotomontage als neuarti-ge, im Kern moderne Bildgattung im Spannungsfeld zwischen künstleri-schem Experiment, kommerzieller Verwertung und politischer Vereinnah-mung entwickelte.
L'artiste allemande Hannah Höch fait partie des inventeurs du genre du collage. L'exposition du Zentrum Paul Klee transmet ce type d'œuvre, également appelé photomontage par Hannah Höch dans l'esprit du dadaïsme, et le montre en dialogue avec le cinéma d'avant-garde des années 1920. Hannah Höch considérait le médium du photomontage comme étroitement apparenté au film - comme des films statiques sur papier qui, à l'aide du montage et de la composition, peuvent offrir de nouveaux regards sur le monde. Pour la première fois, une exposition retrace la fascination de Höch pour le nouveau média de masse qu'était le film à l'époque et montre comment le photomontage s'est développé en tant que nouveau genre d'image fondamentalement moderne, à la croisée de l'expérimentation artistique, de l'exploitation commerciale et de l'appropriation politique.

La mostra al Zentrum Paul Klee si concentra su questo genere di lavoro, chiamato anche fotomontaggio da Hannah Höch nello spirito del dadaismo, e lo mostra in dialogo con il cinema d'avanguardia degli anni Venti. Per Hannah Höch il mezzo del fotomontaggio è strettamente legato al cinema, come film statici su carta che, con l'aiuto del montaggio e della composizione, possono fornire nuove visioni del mondo. Per la prima volta, una mostra esplora la fascinazione di Höch per l'allora nuovo mezzo di massa del cinema e rende visibile come il fotomontaggio si sia sviluppato come un nuovo genere di immagine essenzialmente moderno nel campo della tensione tra esperimento artistico, sfruttamento commerciale e appropriazione politica.
The German artist Hannah Höch is one of the inventors of the collage genre. The exhibition at the Zentrum Paul Klee focuses on this genre of works, also called photomontages by Hannah Höch in the spirit of Dadaism - and shows them in dialogue with the avant-garde cinema of the 1920s. Hannah Höch understood the medium of photomontage as closely related to film - as static films on paper that, with the help of editing and composition, could provide new views of the world. For the first time, an exhibition explores Höch's fascination with the then novel mass medium of film and makes visible how photomontage developed as a new, essentially modern genre of image in the field of tension between artistic experiment, commercial exploitation, and political appropriation.
