Mit dem Medium der analogen Fotografie nähert sich der aus Vorarlberg stammende und in Wien lebende Künstler Marko Zink (* 1975) dem Grauen des Holocaust an. Motiv ist Mauthausen – Ort und Synonym für die Auslöschung zehntausender Menschen. Die verwendeten Filme stanzt, kocht oder behandelt er mit Chlor und Tintentod, bevor sie belichtet werden. Dadurch wirken die Fotografien wie historische Fundstücke und künden von der Auslöschung des Menschen ebenso wie von der Tilgung von Erinnerung. Zink reflektiert den Wandel vom Tatort zur Gedenkstätte und betreibt damit eine vielschichtige, kontextualisierte Spurensuche.
L'artiste Marko Zink (né en 1975), originaire du Vorarlberg et vivant à Vienne, utilise le médium de la photographie analogique pour se rapprocher de l'horreur de l'Holocauste. Le motif est Mauthausen - lieu et synonyme de l'extermination de dizaines de milliers de personnes. Il poinçonne, fait bouillir ou traite les films utilisés avec du chlore et de l'encre de Chine avant de les exposer. Les photographies ressemblent ainsi à des objets historiques trouvés et témoignent de l'anéantissement de l'homme ainsi que de l'effacement de la mémoire. Zink réfléchit à la transformation de la scène de crime en mémorial et effectue ainsi une recherche de traces complexe et contextualisée.
Utilizzando il mezzo della fotografia analogica, l'artista Marko Zink (* 1975), originario del Vorarlberg e residente a Vienna, si avvicina all'orrore dell'Olocausto. Il motivo è Mauthausen, luogo e sinonimo di sterminio di decine di migliaia di persone. Prima di esporre le pellicole che utilizza, le buca, le bolle o le tratta con cloro e inchiostro. Di conseguenza, le fotografie sembrano oggetti storici ritrovati e raccontano lo sterminio di persone e lo sradicamento della memoria. Zink riflette sulla trasformazione da scena del crimine a luogo commemorativo e conduce così una ricerca di tracce contestualizzata e a più livelli.
Using the medium of analog photography, the artist Marko Zink (* 1975), who comes from Vorarlberg and lives in Vienna, approaches the horror of the Holocaust. The motif is Mauthausen - place and synonym for the extermination of tens of thousands of people. He punches, boils or treats the films used with chlorine and ink death before exposing them. As a result, the photographs look like historical found objects and tell of the extermination of human beings as well as the erasure of memory. Zink reflects on the transformation from a crime scene to a memorial site and thus engages in a multi-layered, contextualized search for traces.
