Mit dem Ausstellungsprojekt Kerstin Flake / Benoît Grimbert führt der Fotohof zwei internationale Positionen zusammen, deren geistige Verwandtschaft sich wohl erst auf den zweiten Blick zu erkennen gibt. Die Leipziger Künstlerin Kerstin Flake inszeniert als Regisseurin und Bühnenbildnerin in einer Person bizarre Stücke. Während in ihren Bildserien die Gesetze der Physik nur bedingt zu gelten scheinen, gleichen Benoît Grimberts präzise Fotografien einer nahezu archäologischen Untersuchung urbaner Räume. Verbindet der in Paris lebende Künstler seine Bilder mit den Biografien von Jim Morrison und Charles Manson und lässt so zeitliche Schichtungen durcheinander geraten, geht es Kerstin Flake, neben dem Spiel mit Erwartungshaltungen, um eine Überlagerung von Vergangenem und Gegenwärtigen, um das Verschwinden und Verschieben von Perspektive und Bedeutung.

Alors que dans ses séries d'images, les lois de la physique ne semblent s'appliquer que de manière limitée, les photographies précises de Benoît Grimbert ressemblent à une étude presque archéologique des espaces urbains. Si l'artiste vivant à Paris relie ses visuels aux biographies de Jim Morrison et de Charles Manson et fait ainsi se confondre les strates temporelles, il s'agit pour Kerstin Flake, outre le jeu avec les attentes, d'une superposition du passé et du présent, de la disparition et du déplacement de la perspective et de la signification.
Con il progetto espositivo Kerstin Flake / Benoît Grimbert, il Fotohof riunisce due posizioni internazionali la cui affinità intellettuale è riconoscibile solo a un secondo sguardo. L'artista di Lipsia Kerstin Flake mette in scena bizzarri spettacoli come regista e scenografa in una sola persona. Mentre le leggi della fisica sembrano essere applicate solo in misura limitata nella sua serie di immagini, le precise fotografie di Benoît Grimbert assomigliano a un'indagine quasi archeologica degli spazi urbani. Mentre l'artista parigino combina le sue immagini con le biografie di Jim Morrison e Charles Manson, confondendo così gli strati temporali, Kerstin Flake si preoccupa non solo di giocare con le aspettative, ma anche di sovrapporre il passato e il presente, di far scomparire e spostare la prospettiva e il significato.
The exhibition project Kerstin Flake / Benoît Grimbert brings together two international positions whose intellectual links probably emerge only at second glance. The Leipzig artist Kerstin Flake stages bizarre plays as a director and stage designer in one person. While the laws of physics only seem to apply to a limited extent in her image series, Benoît Grimbert's precise photographic tableaus resemble an almost archaeological investigation of urban space. While the Paris-based artist ties his images to the biographies of Jim Morrison and Charles Manson, allowing layers of time and mythological subtext to become mixed up, Kerstin Flake is concerned not only with the play of expectations, but also with the superimposition of past and present, with disappearance and shifting of perspective and meaning.
