Marie Rief
Marie Rief arbeitet mit analogem Fotopapier, Zeichnungen, Laserdruck und Kopie. Ihre Werke bebildern Existenz und Fehler von Objekten - durch fortwährende Kopie werden Gegenstände in Frage gestellt: Was ist Original, was Kopie, wie nehmen wir Transformationsprozesse wahr? Ihre bildstarken Werke, die durch ständige Wiederholung eine neue Identität, eine neue Wirklichkeit schaffen, sind vom 15.9. - 27.11. in der Ausstellung „identity by repetition“ im Willy-Brandt-Haus zu sehen.
„Mich interessiert der Spannungspunkt, wie sich Objekt und Fotografie bzw. Kopie eines Objektes zueinander verhalten. Meine Arbeit umfasst Fotoarbeiten, deren Negative von Hand gezeichnet sind, Reihen absichtlicher Fehlausdrucke, Kontaktabzüge von Laserdruck sowie Papierobjekte und -installationen“, sagt Marie Rief über ihre Werke.
Für ihre Serien, die Laserdruck und Fotopapier miteinander vereinen, lässt sie zum Beispiel Druckerpatronen so lange drucken bis das Papier gänzlich weiß bleibt. Bedruckte Transparentpapiere sind ihre Negative, von ihnen entstehen analoge Abzüge auf Fotopapier.
Marie Rief wurde 1987 in Berlin geboren und studierte Bildende Kunst an der Universität der Künste Berlin. In dieser Zeit entwickelt sie ihre experimentelle und konzeptionelle Arbeit mit Fotomaterial, Zeichnung und Kopie.
Marie Riefs Werke in der Ausstellung spielen auf die Bedeutung von Zufälligkeit im maschinellen Druckprozess an. Die Fotoarbeiten dokumentieren das Verlaufsbild der Erschöpfung der Patrone - wie auch das fließbandartige, repetitive Ab-arbeiten in der Dunkelkammer an den Abzügen. Der Betrachter kann das Objekt, das am Anfang der Vervielfältigung stand, im Verlauf der Serie nicht mehr erfassen. Die gewohnte, gelernte Wahrnehmung sucht nach Verbindungen und schafft so eine neue Wirklichkeit, eine neue Identität durch Wiederholung.
Marie Rief travaille avec du papier photo analogique, des dessins, de l'impression laser et de la copie. Ses œuvres illustrent l'existence et les défauts des objets - la copie continue remet les objets en question : Qu'est-ce qui est original, qu'est-ce qui est copie, comment percevons-nous les processus de transformation ? Ses œuvres à l'image forte, qui créent une nouvelle identité, une nouvelle réalité par la répétition constante, sont présentées du 15.9 au 27.11 dans l'exposition "identity by repetition" à la Willy-Brandt-Haus.
"Ce qui m'intéresse, c'est le point de tension entre l'objet et la photographie ou la copie d'un objet. Mon travail comprend des travaux photographiques dont les négatifs sont dessinés à la main, des séries d'impressions délibérément erronées, des tirages par contact de l'impression laser ainsi que des objets et des installations en papier", explique Marie Rief à propos de ses œuvres.
Pour ses séries, qui associent impression laser et papier photo, elle fait par exemple imprimer des cartouches d'imprimante jusqu'à ce que le papier reste entièrement blanc. Les papiers transparents imprimés sont ses négatifs, dont elle tire des tirages analogiques sur papier photo.
Marie Rief est née en 1987 à Berlin et a étudié les arts visuels à l'université des arts de Berlin. Pendant cette période, elle développe son travail expérimental et conceptuel avec le matériel photographique, le dessin et la copie.
Les œuvres de Marie Rief présentées dans l'exposition font allusion à l'importance du hasard dans le processus d'impression mécanique. Les travaux photographiques documentent la progression de l'épuisement de la cartouche - ainsi que le travail répétitif à la chaîne sur les tirages dans la chambre noire. Au fil de la série, l'observateur ne peut plus saisir l'objet qui se trouvait au début de la reproduction. La perception habituelle et apprise cherche des liens et crée ainsi une nouvelle réalité, une nouvelle identité par la répétition.
Marie Rief lavora con carta fotografica analogica, disegni, stampa laser e copia. Le sue opere illustrano l'esistenza e gli errori degli oggetti, che vengono messi in discussione attraverso una continua copia: Cosa è l'originale, cosa è la copia, come percepiamo i processi di trasformazione? Le sue opere di grande impatto visivo, che creano una nuova identità e una nuova realtà attraverso la costante ripetizione, sono esposte nella mostra "Identità per ripetizione" alla Willy Brandt House dal 15 settembre al 27 novembre.
"Mi interessa il punto di tensione tra oggetto e fotografia o copia di un oggetto. Il mio lavoro comprende opere fotografiche i cui negativi sono disegnati a mano, serie di errori di stampa intenzionali, stampe a contatto di stampe laser, oggetti e installazioni di carta", dice Marie Rief a proposito delle sue opere.
Per le sue serie che combinano stampa laser e carta fotografica, ad esempio, fa stampare le cartucce della stampante fino a quando la carta rimane completamente bianca. Le carte trasparenti stampate sono i suoi negativi, dai quali vengono realizzate stampe analogiche su carta fotografica.
Marie Rief è nata a Berlino nel 1987 e ha studiato Belle Arti all'Università delle Arti di Berlino. In questo periodo sviluppa il suo lavoro sperimentale e concettuale con materiale fotografico, disegno e copia.
Le opere di Marie Rief in mostra alludono all'importanza della casualità nel processo di stampa a macchina. Le opere fotografiche documentano la progressione dell'esaurimento della cartuccia, così come la lavorazione ripetitiva, simile a una catena di montaggio, delle stampe in camera oscura. Nel corso della serie, lo spettatore non riesce più a cogliere l'oggetto che si trovava all'inizio della riproduzione. La percezione abituale e appresa cerca connessioni e crea così una nuova realtà, una nuova identità attraverso la ripetizione.
Marie Rief works with analog photographic paper, drawings, laser printing and copying. Her works illustrate the existence and errors of objects - objects are called into question through continuous copying: What is original, what is copy, how do we perceive transformation processes? Her visually powerful works, which create a new identity, a new reality through constant repetition, can be seen in the exhibition "identity by repetition" at the Willy Brandt House from Sept. 15 - Nov. 27.
"I am interested in the point of tension between how object and photograph or copy of an object relate to each other. My work includes photographic works whose negatives are hand-drawn, series of intentional misprints, contact prints from laser printing, and paper objects and installations," Marie Rief says of her works.
For her series that combine laser printing and photographic paper, for example, she has printer cartridges printed until the paper remains entirely white. Printed transparent papers are her negatives, from which analog prints are made on photographic paper.
Marie Rief was born in Berlin in 1987 and studied fine arts at the Berlin University of the Arts. During this time she developed her experimental and conceptual work with photographic material, drawing and copying.
Marie Rief's works in the exhibition allude to the importance of randomness in the machine printing process. The photographic works document the progression of the cartridge's exhaustion - as well as the assembly line-like, repetitive working off of prints in the darkroom. In the course of the series, the viewer can no longer grasp the object that stood at the beginning of the duplication. The habitual, learned perception searches for connections and thus creates a new reality, a new identity through repetition.
