Im Jahr 2023 gewann Felipe Romero Beltrán die 17. Ausgabe des Foam Paul Huf Award. Nun ist Foam stolz darauf, seine Einzelausstellung Dialekt anzukündigen. Die Ausstellung zeigt die Reise einer Gruppe junger marokkanischer Männer nach ihrer Ankunft von einer gefährlichen Reise über das Meer nach Spanien. Romero Beltrán entwirft eine multimediale Erzählung über die Jungen, die zu jungen Männern werden und sich in Spanien durch eine Zeit der rechtlichen Ungewissheit bewegen. Durch seine Arbeit beleuchtet Romero Beltrán Themen wie Entfremdung und soziale Ungleichheit von Migranten in der heutigen Gesellschaft.
Der in Kolumbien geborene Romero Beltrán konzentriert sich in seiner Arbeit häufig auf gesellschaftliche Themen, die er über mehrere Jahre hinweg verfolgt. Für Dialect hat er das Leben dieser jungen Erwachsenen drei Jahre lang dokumentiert - der Zeitraum, der nötig ist, um das legale Verfahren zur Erlangung der Staatsbürgerschaft zu durchlaufen. Nach einer gefahrvollen Reise, bei der sie die Straße von Gibraltar, die Seegrenze zwischen Marokko und Spanien, überquert haben, haben sich die jungen Männer in Sevilla niedergelassen. Während ihr rechtlicher Status geprüft wird, befinden sich diese jungen Männer in einer Leere: entfremdet von der Vertrautheit ihres Heimatlandes und getrennt von einer neuen Gesellschaft, an der sie nicht teilhaben können. Selbst wenn es ihnen gelingt, aus dem rechtlichen Vakuum herauszutreten, bleiben sie "die Anderen" und fühlen sich in ihrer neuen Wahlheimat entfremdet.
Romero Beltrán setzt in seinem Werk auf eine starke, fast filmische Rahmung. Er kombiniert Dokumentarfotografie mit Elementen der Performance und Choreografie. Neben seinen Fotografien werden in der Ausstellung auch Videoarbeiten und eine Installation zu sehen sein, die eine Antwort auf den unzugänglichen Papierkram darstellen, den dieser rechtliche Prozess mit sich bringt. Felipe Romero Beltrán zeigt in seiner Praxis eine kraftvolle, menschliche Art: Thema und Methode seiner Arbeit sind untrennbar mit ihm als Person und Künstler verbunden. Sein eigener Hintergrund als Migrant aus Kolumbien und seine aufrichtige Zuneigung zu seinen Themen leiten seine Vision und Perspektive.
Der Dialekt ist ein starkes Stück Widerstand gegen die komplexe und beschwerliche Reise der Vertriebenen. Eine Gruppe von Menschen, die von Jahr zu Jahr größer wird.
En 2023, Felipe Romero Beltrán a remporté la 17e édition du Foam Paul Huf Award. Aujourd'hui, Foam est fier d'annoncer son exposition personnelle Dialect. L'exposition retrace le parcours d'un groupe de jeunes Marocains après leur dangereuse traversée de la mer vers l'Espagne. Romero Beltrán crée un récit multimédia dans lequel les garçons deviennent de jeunes hommes, naviguant dans une période de vide juridique en Espagne. Par son travail, Romero Beltrán met en lumière des questions telles que l'aliénation et l'inégalité sociale des migrants dans la société d'aujourd'hui.
Né en Colombie, Romero Beltrán se concentre souvent dans sa pratique sur des questions sociétales où il suit ses sujets pendant plusieurs années. Pour Dialect, il a documenté la vie de ces jeunes adultes pendant trois ans - la période nécessaire pour passer par le processus légal d'obtention de la citoyenneté. Après un voyage périlleux au cours duquel ils ont traversé le détroit de Gibraltar, la frontière maritime entre le Maroc et l'Espagne, ces jeunes hommes se sont installés à Séville. Alors que leur statut juridique est en cours d'examen, ces jeunes hommes se retrouvent dans le vide : éloignés de la familiarité de leur pays d'origine et séparés d'une nouvelle société à laquelle ils ne peuvent prendre part. Même lorsqu'ils parviennent à sortir du vide juridique, ils restent "les autres" et éprouvent un sentiment d'aliénation dans ce nouveau pays d'adoption.
Romero Beltrán s'appuie sur un cadrage fort, presque cinématographique, dans son travail. Il combine la photographie documentaire avec des éléments de performance et de chorégraphie. Parallèlement à ses photographies, l'exposition présentera des travaux vidéo et comprendra une installation en réponse à l'inaccessibilité de la paperasserie qu'entraîne ce processus juridique. Felipe Romero Beltrán fait preuve d'une grande humanité dans sa pratique : le sujet et la méthode de son travail sont intrinsèquement liés à la personne et à l'artiste qu'il est. Son propre passé de migrant colombien et son affection sincère pour ses sujets guident sa vision et sa perspective.
Le dialecte est une pièce de résistance puissante contre le parcours complexe et ardu des personnes déplacées. Un groupe de personnes qui s'agrandit d'année en année.

Anche quando riescono a uscire dal vuoto giuridico, rimangono "gli altri", sperimentando un senso di alienazione in questo nuovo Paese di adozione.
Romero Beltrán si affida a un'inquadratura forte, quasi cinematografica, nel suo lavoro. Combina la fotografia documentaria con elementi di performance e coreografia. Accanto alle sue fotografie, la mostra presenterà lavori video e includerà un'installazione come risposta all'inaccessibilità delle pratiche legali. Felipe Romero Beltrán mostra una forte umanità nella sua pratica: il soggetto e il metodo del suo lavoro sono intrinsecamente legati a lui come persona e artista. In 2023, Felipe Romero Beltrán won the 17th edition of the Foam Paul Huf Award. Now Foam is proud to announce his solo exhibition Dialect. The exhibition captures the journey of a group of young Moroccan men after their arrival from a dangerous journey crossing the sea to Spain. Romero Beltrán creates a multimedia narrative of the boys becoming young men, navigating a period of legal limbo in Spain. Through his work, Romero Beltrán sheds light on issues such as alienation and social inequity of migrants in today’s society.
Born in Colombia, Romero Beltrán often focuses in his practice on societal issues where he follows his subjects for several years. For Dialect he documented the lives of these young adults for three years –the period it takes to go through the legal process of obtaining citizenship. After a perilous journey where they have crossed the Strait of Gibraltar; the maritime border between Morocco and Spain, these young men settled in Seville. While their legal status is being reviewed, these young men find themselves in a void: estranged from the familiarity of their home country and separated from a new society they can’t take part in. Even when they manage to step out of the legal vacuum, they remain ‘the others’ , experiencing a sense of alienation in this newly adopted country.
Romero Beltrán relies on a strong, almost cinematic framing in his work. He combines documentary photography with elements of performance and choreography. Alongside his photography, the exhibition will showcase videowork and include an installation as a response to the inaccessible paperwork this legal process brings along. Felipe Romero Beltrán displays a powerful humane manner in his practice: the subject and method of his work are intrinsically connected to him as a person and artist. His own background as a migrant from Colombia and his sincere affection towards his subjects guide his vision and perspective.
Dialect is a powerful pièce the resistance against the complex and arduous journey of those who have been displaced. A group of people that is growing with each passing year.
