Hat die Natur ein einziges Gesicht oder ist sie eine ständige Metamorphose, veränderlich und schwer fassbar? Der Fotograf Daniel Pittet gibt eine Antwort mit seinen Berggeistern, die den Landschaften ihre Züge verleihen, indem sie sich die Eigenschaften der Symmetrie zunutze machen.
Die Arbeit des Künstlers ist eine wahre Hymne an die Schönheit der Welt und regt uns dazu an, die tiefere Natur der Dinge, die uns umgeben, zu erforschen und in sie einzutauchen. Von seiner Intuition geleitet, begab sich der Fotograf mit Freiburger Wurzeln auf eine leidenschaftliche Suche nach diesen Berggeistern.
Manchmal fiel es ihm leicht, manchmal musste er stundenlang warten und suchen, bis sich die Geister offenbarten. Doch das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen: Auf rund 50 Bildern sehen wir, wie diese symmetrischen Formen vor unseren Augen erscheinen.
Die ersten Geister, die Daniel Pittet mit seinem Objektiv einfing, befanden sich am Fuße des Basodino-Gletschers im Tessin, doch inzwischen hat sich die Familie der Berggeister vergrößert.
Einige der Fotos wurden zuerst im Tal des Gletschers aufgenommen, dann in den Voralpen des Greyerzerlandes, in den Bündner und Walliser Alpen, in Island und sogar im Himalaya, was die universelle Dimension des Projekts unterstreicht.
Dank der Cello-Noten von Sara Oswald wird die Ausstellung in eine bezaubernde Klangatmosphäre getaucht. Das Ganze ist eine Einladung, die Welt um uns herum mit anderen Augen zu sehen, in der Natur nach Symmetrie zu suchen und nach Gesichtern Ausschau zu halten, die in Fels oder Eis gemeißelt sind.
Die Fotografien dieser Ausstellung werden in einem Buch veröffentlicht, das 2024 im Slatkine-Verlag erscheinen wird.
La nature revêt-elle un visage unique ou alors est-elle une métamorphose constante, changeante et insaisissable? Le photographe Daniel Pittet apporte une réponse via ses Esprits de la montagne qui prêtent leurs traits aux paysages en exploitant les propriétés delà symétrie.
Véritable hymne à la beauté du monde, le travail de l’artiste nous pousse à chercher la nature profonde de ce qui nous entoure et à nous en imprégner. Guidé par son intuition, le photographe d’origine fribourgeoise s’est lancé dans une quête passionnée à la rencontre de ces esprits de montagne.
Ces présences se révélèrent à lui, parfois facilement, parfois au prix de longues heures d'attente et de recherche. Mais le résultat est là: à travers une cinquantaine de clichés, nous voyons ces formes symétriques apparaître sous nos yeux.
Si les premiers esprits capturés par l’objectif de Daniel Pittet se situaient aux pieds du glacier du Basodino au Tessin, la famille des esprits de la montagne s’est depuis agrandie.
Certaines photographies ont d’abord été prises dans la vallé e où s’é coulent les eaux du mê me glacier et ensuite dans les Pré alpes de la Gruyère, dans les Alpes grisonnes et valaisannes, en Islande et même en Himalaya, affirmant ainsi la dimension universelle du projet.
Grâce aux notes de violoncelle de Sara Oswald, l’exposition est plongée dans une ambiance sonore envoûtante. Le tout forme alors une invitation à porter un regard différent sur le monde qui nous entoure, à chercher la symétrie dans la nature, à être à l’affût de visages gravés dans la roche ou dans la glace.
Les photographies de cette exposition seront publiées dans un livre à paraître en 2024 aux éditions Slatkine.
La natura ha un unico volto o è una metamorfosi costante, mutevole e sfuggente? Il fotografo Daniel Pittet fornisce una risposta con i suoi Esprits de la montagne, che conferiscono le loro caratteristiche ai paesaggi sfruttando le proprietà della simmetria.
Vero e proprio inno alla bellezza del mondo, l'opera dell'artista ci incoraggia a ricercare la natura profonda di ciò che ci circonda e a immergerci in essa. Guidato dalla sua intuizione, il fotografo friburghese ha intrapreso una ricerca appassionata per incontrare questi spiriti della montagna.
Queste presenze gli si sono rivelate, a volte facilmente, a volte a costo di lunghe ore di attesa e di ricerca. Ma il risultato è lì: attraverso una cinquantina di fotografie, vediamo apparire queste forme simmetriche davanti ai nostri occhi.
Se i primi spiriti catturati dall'obiettivo di Daniel Pittet si trovavano ai piedi del ghiacciaio del Basodino, in Ticino, da allora la famiglia degli spiriti di montagna si è allargata.
Alcune fotografie sono state scattate dapprima nella valle dove scorrono le acque dello stesso ghiacciaio, poi nelle Prealpi della Gruyère, nelle Alpi grigionesi e vallesane, in Islanda e persino sull'Himalaya, a conferma della dimensione universale del progetto.
Il violoncello di Sara Oswald aggiunge un'incantevole colonna sonora alla mostra. Il risultato è un invito a guardare in modo diverso il mondo che ci circonda, a cercare la simmetria nella natura, a essere alla ricerca di volti incisi nella roccia o nel ghiaccio.
Le fotografie di questa mostra saranno pubblicate in un libro che sarà edito nel 2024 da Slatkine.
Does nature have a single face, or is it a constant, changing, elusive metamorphosis? Photographer Daniel Pittet provides an answer with his Esprits de la montagne, which lend their features to landscapes by exploiting the properties of symmetry.
A veritable hymn to the beauty of the world, the artist's work encourages us to seek out and immerse ourselves in the profound nature of what surrounds us. Guided by his intuition, the Fribourg-born photographer embarked on a passionate quest to meet these mountain spirits.
These presences revealed themselves to him, sometimes easily, sometimes at the cost of long hours of waiting and searching. But the result is there: through some fifty photographs, we see these symmetrical forms appear before our very eyes.
While the first spirits captured by Daniel Pittet's lens were at the foot of the Basodino glacier in Ticino, the family of mountain spirits has since expanded.
Some of the photographs were first taken in the valley where the waters of the same glacier flow, and then in the Pre-Alps of Gruyère, in the Graubünden and Valais Alps, in Iceland and even in the Himalayas, thus affirming the universal dimension of the project.
Thanks to Sara Oswald's cello notes, the exhibition is immersed in an enchanting soundscape. The whole is an invitation to take a different look at the world around us, to search for symmetry in nature, to be on the lookout for faces etched in rock or ice.
The photographs from this exhibition will be published in a book due out in 2024 by Editions Slatkine.
