Der künstlerische Ansatz von Ištvan Išt Huzjan basiert auf dem Entwurf von Wegen und Routen, durch die er die Distanz zwischen Menschen und Räumen ergründet und die Bewegungsabläufe zwischen Orten sowie die Art der Fortbewegung ins Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit rückt. Viele seiner Projekte geben Aufschluss über die Beziehung zwischen Individuen, Gesellschaftsstrukturen sowie die inhärenten historischen oder geografischen Verhältnisse. Fotografische Aufnahmen bilden das flüchtige Material, das Zeugenschaft über spezifische Orte oder kulturell determinierte Handlungen ablegt. In serieller Anordnung werden diese Fotografien teils von Objekten als weitere Bestandteile in Form einer Landvermessung begleitet. Die Ausstellung bei Camera Austria zeigt eine Reihe von Huzjans performativen Arbeiten, die er auf Einladung verschiedener Kurator*innen und Institutionen realisiert hat und die den Künstler als Akteur ins Blickfeld rücken. In diesen verquickt er Momente von Raum und Zeit, deren Verlauf von ihm bewusst gesteuert wird. Dokumentation und Repräsentation bilden Bezugspunkte, die das Subjekt in unterschiedlichen Zeit- und Raumebenen verorten. Bei Camera Austria erstmals zu sehen ist die während der Pandemie entstandene Arbeit A Poem Between Us, die auch den Titel der Ausstellung bildet.
L'approche artistique d'Ištvan Išt Huzjan est basée sur la conception de chemins et d'itinéraires à travers lesquels il explore la distance entre les personnes et les espaces et met l'accent sur les mouvements entre les lieux et les modes de déplacement. Nombre de ses projets renseignent sur les relations entre les individus, les structures sociales et les conditions historiques ou géographiques inhérentes. Les prises de vue photographiques constituent le matériau éphémère qui témoigne de lieux spécifiques ou d'actions culturellement déterminées. Dans une disposition en série, ces photographies sont parfois accompagnées d'objets comme autres éléments constitutifs, sous la forme d'un arpentage. L'exposition à Camera Austria présente une série de travaux performatifs de Huzjan, réalisés à l'invitation de différents curateurs* et institutions, qui mettent l'artiste en avant en tant qu'acteur. Dans celles-ci, il entremêle des moments d'espace et de temps dont il contrôle consciemment le déroulement. La documentation et la représentation constituent des points de référence qui situent le sujet dans différents niveaux de temps et d'espace. L'œuvre A Poem Between Us, réalisée pendant la pandémie et qui constitue également le titre de l'exposition, est présentée pour la première fois à Camera Austria.
L'approccio artistico di Ištvan Išt Huzjan si basa sulla progettazione di sentieri e percorsi, attraverso i quali esplora la distanza tra le persone e gli spazi e si concentra sui processi di movimento tra i luoghi e sulla natura della locomozione. Molti dei suoi progetti mettono in luce il rapporto tra individui, strutture sociali e condizioni storiche o geografiche intrinseche. Le fotografie costituiscono il materiale effimero che testimonia luoghi specifici o azioni culturalmente determinate. Nella disposizione seriale, queste fotografie sono talvolta accompagnate da oggetti come ulteriori componenti sotto forma di un'indagine territoriale. La mostra di Camera Austria presenta una serie di opere performative di Huzjan, realizzate su invito di vari curatori e istituzioni, che mettono in luce l'artista come attore. In questi lavori, Huzjan intreccia momenti di spazio e tempo, il cui corso è controllato consapevolmente da lui stesso. La documentazione e la rappresentazione costituiscono punti di riferimento che collocano il soggetto in diversi livelli di tempo e spazio. In mostra per la prima volta a Camera Austria c'è l'opera A Poem Between Us, creata durante la pandemia e che è anche il titolo della mostra.
Ištvan Išt Huzjan’s artistic approach is based on the design of paths and routes, which he uses to probe the distance between people and spaces, but also to shed light on movement patterns between places and the kinds of motion involved. Many of his projects provide information about relationships among individuals, societal structures, and inherent historical or geographical relations. Photographs are the ephemeral material that bears witness to specific places or culturally driven actions. These pictures arranged in series are at times accompanied, in the form of land surveying, by objects as added elements. The exhibition at Camera Austria shows a number of Huzjan’s performative works, which he made based on invitations by various curators and exhibition venues. These works focus on the artist as a protagonist in that Huzjan conflates spatial and temporal moments, consciously directing their progression. Documentation and representation are points of reference localizing the subject on different planes of time and space. The work A Poem Between Us, created during the pandemic, is being shown for the very first time at Camera Austria, and it also lends its name to the exhibition title.
