Deutscher Kaviar - Die fotografische Sammlung

Seit rund 50 Jahren sammelt das Kunstmuseum zeitgenössische Fotografie. Über 400 Werke und Serien sind dabei zusammengetragen worden, die insgesamt mehrere Tausend Fotografien umfassen. Im Rahmen des Förderprogramms „Forschungsvolontariat Kunstmuseen NRW“ wurde die Sammlung nun systematisch aufgearbeitet und erforscht. Teile daraus werden in der Sonderausstellung Deutscher Kaviar neu präsentiert.
Mit einem Fokus auf Kunstwerke, die seit den 1960er-Jahren in Deutschland und im Rheinland entstanden sind, bietet die Sammlung eine einzigartige Perspektive auf ein halbes Jahrhundert Foto-Kunstgeschichte. Die Ausstellung Deutscher Kaviar versammelt Werke aus dem gesamten Sammlungszeitraum und zeigt, dass trotz ihrer ästhetischen und technischen Vielfalt künstlerische Fotografie grundsätzlich ein konkretes Interesse an ihrer jeweiligen Gegenwart hat. Die letzten 60 Jahre in Deutschland, so zeigt sich dabei, wurden am stärksten geprägt von einem sich rasant beschleunigenden neoliberalen Kapitalismus, der Leben, Kunst und Kultur zunehmend in Prozesse der Kommerzialisierung verstrickt hat und dessen Einfluss auf unser Denken und Fühlen sich in den Werken der Sammlung widerspiegelt.
Von der lokalen rheinischen Kunstszene bis zum globalisierten Finanzwesen wird eine Gesellschaft im Wandel sichtbar, in der die grundlegenden Fragen der Kunstwerke überraschend relevant geblieben sind. Ob es sich dabei um die Rolle des Individuums im postindustriellen Zeitalter, Geschlechts-, Gender- und Identitätsfragen oder das Verhältnis von Kunst und Ware handelt, die Ausstellung zeigt in verschiedenen Themenbereichen konstante Interessensfelder der fotografischen Sammlung von den 1960er-Jahren bis in die digitale Gegenwart.

Ein Projekt im Rahmen des Forschungsvolontariats Kunstmuseen NRW, ermöglicht und begleitet durch das Ministerium für Kultur und Wissenschaft des Landes NRW.
Depuis près de 50 ans, le Kunstmuseum collectionne la photographie contemporaine. Plus de 400 œuvres et séries ont ainsi été rassemblées, comprenant au total plusieurs milliers de photographies. Dans le cadre du programme de soutien "Volontariat de recherche pour les musées d'art de Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie", la collection a été systématiquement traitée et étudiée. Des parties de cette collection sont présentées dans l'exposition temporaire Deutscher Caviar.
En se concentrant sur les œuvres d'art créées en Allemagne et en Rhénanie depuis les années 1960, la collection offre une perspective unique sur un demi-siècle d'histoire de l'art photographique. L'exposition Deutscher Kaviar rassemble des œuvres de toute la période de la collection et montre que, malgré sa diversité esthétique et technique, la photographie artistique a fondamentalement un intérêt concret pour son présent respectif. Il en ressort que les 60 dernières années en Allemagne ont été le plus fortement marquées par l'accélération fulgurante du capitalisme néolibéral, qui a de plus en plus impliqué la vie, l'art et la culture dans des processus de commercialisation et dont l'influence sur nos pensées et nos sentiments se reflète dans les œuvres de la collection.
De la scène artistique locale rhénane à la finance mondialisée, on découvre une société en pleine mutation, dans laquelle les questions fondamentales posées par les œuvres d'art sont restées étonnamment pertinentes. Qu'il s'agisse du rôle de l'individu à l'ère postindustrielle, des questions de sexe, de genre et d'identité ou de la relation entre l'art et la marchandise, l'exposition présente, à travers différents thèmes, des champs d'intérêt constants de la collection photographique, des années 1960 à l'ère numérique contemporaine.

Il Kunstmuseum colleziona fotografia contemporanea da circa 50 anni. Sono state raccolte più di 400 opere e serie, per un totale di diverse migliaia di fotografie. La collezione è stata ora sistematicamente elaborata e studiata nell'ambito del programma di finanziamento "Forschungsvolontariat Kunstmuseen NRW". Alcune parti di essa sono presentate nuovamente nella mostra speciale German Caviar.
Concentrandosi sulle opere create in Germania e nella Renania a partire dagli anni '60, la collezione offre una prospettiva unica su mezzo secolo di storia dell'arte fotografica. La mostra Deutscher Kaviar riunisce opere dell'intero periodo della collezione e dimostra che, nonostante la sua diversità estetica e tecnica, la fotografia artistica ha fondamentalmente un interesse concreto per il proprio presente. Gli ultimi 60 anni in Germania sono stati fortemente modellati da un capitalismo neoliberale in rapida accelerazione, che ha sempre più coinvolto la vita, l'arte e la cultura in processi di commercializzazione e la cui influenza sul nostro pensiero e sul nostro sentire si riflette nelle opere della collezione.
Dalla scena artistica locale renana alla finanza globalizzata, diventa visibile una società in transizione in cui le domande fondamentali delle opere d'arte sono rimaste sorprendentemente attuali. Che si tratti del ruolo dell'individuo nell'era post-industriale, di questioni di sesso, genere e identità o del rapporto tra arte e merce, la mostra presenta aree di interesse costanti nella collezione fotografica dagli anni Sessanta al presente digitale in diverse aree tematiche.

The Kunstmuseum has been collecting contemporary photography for around 50 years. More than 400 works and series have been collected, comprising a total of several thousand photographs. The collection has now been systematically processed and researched as part of the "Forschungsvolontariat Kunstmuseen NRW" program. Parts of it will be presented anew in the special exhibition German Caviar.
With a focus on artworks created in Germany and the Rhineland since the 1960s, the collection offers a unique perspective on half a century of photographic art history. The exhibition Deutscher Kaviar brings together works from the entire collection period and shows that despite its aesthetic and technical diversity, artistic photography fundamentally has a concrete interest in its respective present. The last 60 years in Germany, it becomes apparent, have been most strongly shaped by a rapidly accelerating neoliberal capitalism that has increasingly entangled life, art, and culture in processes of commercialization, and whose influence on our thoughts and feelings is reflected in the works in the collection.
From the local Rhenish art scene to globalized finance, a society in flux becomes visible in which the fundamental questions posed by the artworks have remained surprisingly relevant. Whether it is the role of the individual in the post-industrial age, issues of sex, gender, and identity, or the relationship between art and commodity, the exhibition reveals constant areas of interest in the photographic collection from the 1960s to the digital present in a variety of thematic areas.
