In der Sammlung des Kunstmuseums ist Clemens von Wedemeyer mit drei Videoinstallationen und zwei skulpturalen Werken vertreten. Diese Einzelpräsentation verbindet eine Auswahl daraus mit neueren Werken.
«Bei mir entwickeln sich Geschichten oft um eine vorgefundene Situation und einen Ort», so Clemens von Wedemeyer (*1974 in Göttingen, DE, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und Leipzig). Der Künstler, der sich mit seinen Film- und Medieninstallationen zwischen realen Situationen und spekulativen Nacherzählungen bewegt, untersucht Strukturprinzipien in gesellschaftlichen und historischen Kontexten sowie im Medium Film selbst. Dabei lässt er zumeist die Umstände der Entstehung in seine Werke einfliessen.
In der Ausstellung liegt ein Fokus auf dem Verhältnis von Film und Skulptur und deren implizierter Geschichtsschreibung. Es wird anschaulich, wie Skulpturen scheinbar zum Leben erweckt werden können und wie Immaterielles wiederum Form erhalten kann. Die Einzelpräsentation wurde in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Künstler erarbeitet.

Begleitend erscheint ein Heft in der Reihe aus der Sammlung mit einem Essay von Volker Pantenburg und einem Interview von Marie-France Rafael mit dem Künstler.
Dans la collection du Kunstmuseum, Clemens von Wedemeyer est représenté par trois installations vidéo et deux œuvres sculpturales. Cette présentation individuelle associe une sélection de ces œuvres à des œuvres plus récentes.
"Chez moi, les histoires se développent souvent autour d'une situation et d'un lieu préexistants", explique Clemens von Wedemeyer (né en 1974 à Göttingen, DE, vit et travaille à Berlin et à Leipzig). L'artiste, dont les installations cinématographiques et médiatiques oscillent entre situations réelles et récits spéculatifs, étudie les principes structurels dans des contextes sociaux et historiques ainsi que dans le médium cinématographique lui-même. Ce faisant, il intègre le plus souvent dans ses œuvres les circonstances de leur création.
L'exposition met l'accent sur la relation entre le film et la sculpture et sur l'écriture implicite de l'histoire. On y découvre comment les sculptures peuvent sembler prendre vie et comment l'immatériel peut à son tour prendre forme. La présentation individuelle a été élaborée en étroite collaboration avec l'artiste.

"Per me le storie si sviluppano spesso intorno a una situazione e a un luogo", afferma Clemens von Wedemeyer (*1974 a Gottinga, DE, vive e lavora a Berlino e Lipsia). L'artista, le cui installazioni cinematografiche e multimediali si muovono tra situazioni reali e rielaborazioni speculative, esamina i principi strutturali nei contesti sociali e storici e nel mezzo cinematografico stesso. Clemens von Wedemeyer features in the Kunstmuseum's collection with three video installations and two sculptural works. The solo show combines a selection of these with recent works.
'My stories often arise in the context of a found situation and a place', Clemens von Wedemeyer (b. 1974 in Göttingen, Germany, lives and works in Berlin and Leipzig) observed. The artist, whose film and spatial installations operate in the realm between real situations and speculative retellings, explores structural principles in social and historical contexts – and in the film medium itself. His works often incorporate the circumstances in which they are created.
One focus of the exhibition is the relationship between film and sculpture and its implicit historiography. The show illustrates how sculptures can seemingly be brought to life and how the immaterial can assume form. This solo show is devised in close collaboration with the artist.
