Mit kraftvollen Farben und einer außergewöhnlichen Bildsprache widmet sich die Künstlerin Aïda Muluneh dem ungleich verteilten Zugang zu Ressourcen wie Wasser, Nahrung und Bildung, dem Missbrauch von Macht und Menschenrechten sowie dem Empowerment von Frauen. Muluneh wurde 1974 in Addis Abeba, Äthiopien, geboren, wuchs im Jemen, England und Kanada auf und studierte in den USA Kommunikation mit Schwerpunkt Film. Für ihre fotografischen Inszenierungen verwebt sie verschiedene kulturelle Traditionen und Perspektiven und nutzt Methoden von Film und Bühne. Ihre Werke sind international ausgezeichnet und in zahlreichen Museumssammlungen vertreten. 2020 wurde ihre Serie »Road of Glory« in der Ausstellung zum Friedensnobelpreis gezeigt. Aïda Muluneh ist Gründerin und Direktorin von Addis Foto Fest, Ostafrikas erstem internationalen Fotofestival, und Africa Foto Fair, Elfenbeinküste.
Aïda Muluneh. On the edge of past future präsentiert großformatige Arbeiten aus verschiedenen Serien. Die von Celina Lunsford und Andrea Horvay kuratierte Ausstellung ist Mulunehs erste Einzelschau in Deutschland.
Avec des couleurs puissantes et un langage visuel exceptionnel, l'artiste Aïda Muluneh se consacre à l'accès inégalement réparti aux ressources telles que l'eau, la nourriture et l'éducation, à l'abus de pouvoir et aux droits de l'homme ainsi qu'à l'autonomisation des femmes. Muluneh est née en 1974 à Addis Abeba, en Éthiopie, a grandi au Yémen, en Angleterre et au Canada et a étudié la communication aux États-Unis, avec une spécialisation en cinéma. Pour ses mises en scène photographiques, elle entrelace différentes traditions et perspectives culturelles et utilise des méthodes issues du cinéma et de la scène. Ses œuvres ont reçu des prix internationaux et sont représentées dans de nombreuses collections de musées. En 2020, sa série "Road of Glory" a été présentée dans le cadre de l'exposition du prix Nobel de la paix. Aïda Muluneh est la fondatrice et la directrice d'Addis Foto Fest, le premier festival international de photographie d'Afrique de l'Est, et d'Africa Foto Fair, en Côte d'Ivoire.
Aïda Muluneh. On the edge of past future présente des œuvres grand format de différentes séries. L'exposition, organisée par Celina Lunsford et Andrea Horvay, est la première exposition individuelle de Muluneh en Allemagne.
Con colori potenti e un linguaggio visivo straordinario, l'artista Aïda Muluneh si concentra sulla distribuzione ineguale dell'accesso a risorse come l'acqua, il cibo e l'istruzione, sull'abuso di potere e di diritti umani e sull'emancipazione delle donne. Muluneh è nata ad Addis Abeba, in Etiopia, nel 1974, è cresciuta nello Yemen, in Inghilterra e in Canada e ha studiato comunicazione con specializzazione in cinema negli Stati Uniti. Per le sue produzioni fotografiche, Muluneh intreccia diverse tradizioni e prospettive culturali e utilizza metodi cinematografici e teatrali. Le sue opere hanno vinto premi internazionali e sono presenti in numerose collezioni museali. Nel 2020, la sua serie "Road of Glory" è stata esposta nella mostra per il Premio Nobel per la Pace. Aïda Muluneh è la fondatrice e direttrice dell'Addis Foto Fest, il primo festival fotografico internazionale dell'Africa orientale, e dell'Africa Foto Fair, in Costa d'Avorio.

With vibrant colours and an extraordinary visual language, the artist Aïda Muluneh focuses on the unequal distribution of existential resources such as water, food and education, the abuse of power and human rights and the empowerment of women. Muluneh was born in Addis Ababa/Ethiopia in 1974, grew up in Yemen, England and Canada and studied communication with a focus on film in the USA. For her photographic compositions, she interweaves different cultural traditions and perspectives and uses methods from film and stage. Muluneh’s works have been awarded internationally and are represented in numerous museum collections. In 2020 her series Road of Glory was exhibited at the Nobel Peace Prize. Muluneh is founder and director of Addis Foto Fest, East Africa’s first international photography festival, and more recently Africa Foto Fair, Ivory Coast.
Aïda Muluneh. On the edge of past future presents large-format works from diverse series. The exhibition, curated by Celina Lunsford and Andrea Horvay, is Muluneh’s first solo show in Germany.
