Vom 11. Juli bis zum 3. November 2024 kehrt das internationale Fotofestival Cortona On The Move nach Cortona, im Herzen der Toskana, zurück. Das Thema der 14. Ausgabe des Festivals lautet "Body of Evidence": Italienische und internationale Künstler werden die vielfältigen Nuancen des Körpers erforschen und damit eine tiefgreifende Reflexion über aktuelle Ereignisse und ein wichtiges Thema der Gesellschaft, der Bräuche und der zeitgenössischen Kunst fördern.
"Auch für die Ausgabe 2024 will Cortona On The Move weiterhin als kultureller Katalysator fungieren und die zeitgenössische Welt durch den Blick der Fotografen, die es beherbergt, widerspiegeln. Mit seinem Engagement für die Inklusion öffnet sich das Festival einem immer breiteren Publikum und will eine Bühne für den künstlerischen Ausdruck und die kritische Diskussion sein, auf der die Fotografie zu einem Vehikel für das Verständnis und die Veränderung der Welt wird. Die internationale Perspektive der Veranstaltung bleibt durch Kooperationen, die dazu beitragen, die Mission des Festivals zu erweitern, eine Priorität", erklärt Veronica Nicolardi, Direktorin des Festivals.
"Seit der Geburt der Fotografie hat sich der Körper sofort als eines der Hauptthemen des neuen Mediums durchgesetzt. Der Körper, den es zu entdecken, zu entblößen, zu beobachten gilt. Er ist der Ort der Freuden, aber auch der Schmerzen, verletzlich und mächtig. Heute ist der Körper mehr denn je der Schauplatz aller Kämpfe: Identität, Geschlecht und Politik, individuell oder kollektiv. Wenn es stimmt, dass die Fotografie ein Beweis ist, werden wir bei Cortona On The Move 2024 den "Körper des Verbrechens" durch Ausstellungen enthüllen, die alle seine Entgleisungen untersuchen. Wir werden den Körper entdecken und mit ihm uns selbst", kommentiert Paolo Woods, künstlerischer Leiter von Cortona On The Move.
Gemeinsam mit Paolo Woods wird dieses Jahr das Kollektiv Kublaiklan die künstlerische Leitung des Festivals übernehmen und für die fotografische Gestaltung verantwortlich sein. Seit Jahren setzt sich die Gruppe intensiv mit dieser künstlerischen Sprache auseinander und realisiert Ausstellungs- und Forschungsprojekte, die darauf abzielen, die Fotografie in ein zugängliches und bewusstes Ausdrucksmittel zu verwandeln. Kublaiklan, der im Rahmen von Cortona On The Move entstanden ist, ist ein konkretes Beispiel dafür, wie das Festival die Ausbildung junger Talente fördert. Der Beitrag des Kollektivs unterstreicht die wichtige Rolle der Veranstaltung als Inkubator für neue kreative Stimmen.
Das Festival Cortona On The Move wurde von der Kulturvereinigung ONTHEMOVE ins Leben gerufen und wird mit der Schirmherrschaft und dem Beitrag der Region Toskana und der Gemeinde Cortona, der Unterstützung von Intesa Sanpaolo und Gallerie d'Italia - Hauptpartner - und der Unterstützung von Autolinee Toscane, Sony - technischer Partner - und Ärzte ohne Grenzen - Wohltätigkeitspartner - durchgeführt.
In Erwartung des vollständigen Ausstellungsprogramms für die nächste Ausgabe und der beteiligten Fotografen wurde bereits die dritte Ausgabe des Cortona On The Move Award bestätigt, ein Preis, der aus dem Wunsch heraus entstanden ist, Fotografen bei der Entwicklung und Produktion ihrer Werke zu unterstützen, sowie die zweite Ausgabe des Vittoria Castagna Award, der vom Kulturverein ONTHEMOVE organisiert wird und sich an junge Menschen richtet, die sich in der Ausbildung befinden oder ihr Studium im Bereich Marketing und Kommunikation für kulturelle Produktionen bereits abgeschlossen haben. Die Gewinner werden an den Eröffnungstagen des Festivals bekannt gegeben. Die beiden begehrten Preise des letzten Jahres gingen an Valery Poshtarov, den Gewinner des Cortona On The Move Award 2023, der dieses Jahr sein Projekt Father and Son ausstellen wird, und an Silvia Bonaventura, die Zweitplatzierte des Vittoria Castagna Award, die mit dem Festivalteam an der Vorbereitung der nächsten Ausgabe arbeitet. Du 11 juillet au 3 novembre 2024, le festival international de photographie Cortona On The Move revient à Cortona, au cœur de la Toscane. Le thème de la 14e édition du festival est Body of Evidence : des artistes italiens et internationaux exploreront les multiples nuances du corps, favorisant une réflexion profonde sur l'actualité et sur un thème crucial de la société, des coutumes et de l'art contemporain.
"Toujours pour l'édition 2024, Cortona On The Move continue de se proposer comme un catalyseur culturel, reflétant le monde contemporain à travers le regard des photographes qu'il accueille. Avec un engagement d'inclusivité, le festival s'ouvre à un public de plus en plus large, aspirant à être une scène d'expression artistique et de discussion critique, dans laquelle la photographie devient un véhicule pour comprendre et transformer le monde. La perspective internationale de l'événement reste une priorité grâce à des collaborations qui contribuent à élargir l'impact de la mission du festival", explique Veronica Nicolardi, directrice du festival.
"Depuis la naissance de la photographie, le corps s'est immédiatement imposé comme l'un des principaux sujets du nouveau médium. Le corps à découvrir, à dénuder, à observer. Lieu de plaisirs mais aussi de douleurs, vulnérable et puissant. Aujourd'hui plus que jamais, le corps est le territoire de tous les combats : identitaires, sexués et politiques, individuels ou collectifs. S'il est vrai que la photographie est une preuve, à Cortona On The Move 2024 nous dévoilerons le "corps du crime" à travers des expositions qui enquêteront sur toutes ses déclinaisons. Nous découvrirons le corps et, avec lui, nous-mêmes", commente Paolo Woods, directeur artistique de Cortona On The Move.
Cette année, le collectif Kublaiklan, responsable du commissariat photographique, rejoindra Paolo Woods dans la direction artistique du festival. Depuis des années, le groupe explore en profondeur ce langage artistique et réalise des projets d'exposition et de recherche visant à transformer la photographie en un moyen d'expression accessible et conscient. Kublaiklan, né et élevé au sein de Cortona On The Move, représente un exemple tangible de la façon dont le festival est un promoteur de l'éducation des jeunes talents. La contribution du collectif souligne le rôle crucial de l'événement en tant qu'incubateur de nouvelles voix créatives.
Le festival Cortona On The Move est une idée et une production de l'association culturelle ONTHEMOVE. Il est réalisé grâce au patronage et à la contribution de la région de Toscane et de la municipalité de Cortona, au soutien d'Intesa Sanpaolo et de Gallerie d'Italia - partenaires principaux - et au soutien d'Autolinee Toscane, de Sony - partenaire technique - et de Médecins sans Frontières - partenaire caritatif.
En attendant de connaître le programme complet des expositions de la prochaine édition et les photographes impliqués, on a déjà confirmé la 3e édition du Cortona On The Move Award, un prix né de la volonté de soutenir les photographes dans le développement et la production de leurs œuvres, et la 2e édition du Vittoria Castagna Award, organisé par l'Association culturelle ONTHEMOVE et destiné aux jeunes en formation ou ayant déjà terminé leurs études dans le domaine du marketing et de la communication pour la production culturelle. Les lauréats seront annoncés lors des journées d'ouverture du festival. Les deux prix les plus convoités de l'année dernière ont vu le triomphe de Valery Poshtarov, lauréat de l'édition 2023 du prix Cortona On The Move, qui exposera cette année son projet Father and Son, et de Silvia Bonaventura, première lauréate du prix Vittoria Castagna, qui travaille avec l'équipe du festival à la préparation de la prochaine édition. Il tema della 14a edizione del festival è Body of Evidence: artisti italiani e internazionali esploreranno le molteplici sfumature del corpo, promuovendo una riflessione profonda sull’attualità e su un tema cruciale nella società, nel costume e nell’arte contemporanea.
“Anche per l’edizione 2024, Cortona On The Move continua a proporsi come catalizzatore culturale, riflettendo il mondo contemporaneo attraverso lo sguardo dei fotografi che ospita. Con un impegno verso l'inclusione, il festival si apre a un pubblico sempre più vasto, aspirando a essere palcoscenico per l'espressione artistica e la discussione critica, in cui la fotografia diventa veicolo per comprendere e trasformare il mondo. Resta prioritaria la prospettiva internazionale della manifestazione attraverso collaborazioni che contribuiscono ad ampliare l'impatto della mission del festival” spiega Veronica Nicolardi, Direttrice del festival.
“Sin dalla nascita della fotografia, il corpo si è subito imposto come uno dei soggetti principali del nuovo mezzo. Il corpo da scoprire, da denudare, da osservare. Il luogo dei piaceri ma anche dei dolori, vulnerabile e potentissimo. Oggi più che mai il corpo è il territorio di tutte le battaglie: identitarie, di genere e politiche, individuali o collettive. Se è vero che la fotografia è una prova, a Cortona On The Move 2024 sveleremo il “Corpo del Reato” attraverso mostre che ne indagheranno tutte le declinazioni. Scopriremo il corpo e, con lui, noi stessi” commenta Paolo Woods, Direttore artistico di Cortona On The Move.
Ad affiancare Paolo Woods alla direzione artistica del festival, quest’anno ci sarà anche il collettivo Kublaiklan, responsabile della curatela fotografica. Da anni il gruppo esplora in profondità questo linguaggio artistico e realizza progetti espositivi e di ricerca finalizzati a trasformare la fotografia in un mezzo espressivo accessibile e consapevole. Kublaiklan, nato e cresciuto all'interno di Cortona On The Move, rappresenta un esempio tangibile di come il festival sia promotore della formazione di giovani talenti. Il contributo del collettivo sottolinea il ruolo cruciale della manifestazione come incubatore di nuove voci creative.

In attesa di scoprire il programma completo delle mostre per la prossima edizione e dei fotografi coinvolti, sono già confermate la 3a edizione del Cortona On The Move Award, premio nato dalla volontà di supportare i fotografi nello sviluppo e nella produzione delle loro opere, e la 2a edizione del Premio Vittoria Castagna, indetto dall’Associazione Culturale ONTHEMOVE e rivolto ai giovani in formazione o che abbiano già concluso il loro percorso di studi nell'ambito del marketing e comunicazione per la produzione culturale. I vincitori saranno annunciati nei giorni di inaugurazione del festival. I due ambiti premi l’anno scorso hanno visto trionfare Valery Poshtarov, vincitore dell’edizione 2023 del Cortona On The Move Award, che quest’anno esporrà il suo progetto Father and Son, e Silvia Bonaventura, prima classificata del Premio Vittoria Castagna, che è al lavoro con il team del festival per la preparazione della prossima edizione. From July 11 to November 3, 2024, the international photography festival Cortona On The Move returns to Cortona, in the heart of Tuscany. The theme of the 14th edition of the festival is Body of Evidence: Italian and international artists will explore the many nuances of the body, promoting a profound reflection on current events and a crucial theme in society, customs and contemporary art.
"Also for the 2024 edition, Cortona On The Move continues to offer itself as a cultural catalyst, reflecting the contemporary world through the gaze of the photographers it hosts. With a commitment to inclusivity, the festival opens up to an increasingly wide audience, aspiring to be a stage for artistic expression and critical discussion, in which photography becomes a vehicle for understanding and transforming the world. The international perspective of the event remains a priority through collaborations that help broaden the impact of the festival's mission," explains Veronica Nicolardi, festival director.
"Since the birth of photography, the body has immediately emerged as one of the main subjects of the new medium. The body to discover, to denude, to observe. The place of pleasures but also of pains, vulnerable and very powerful. Today more than ever, the body is the territory of all battles: identity, gender and political, individual or collective. If it is true that photography is evidence, at Cortona On The Move 2024 we will unveil the "Body of Crime" through exhibitions investigating all its declinations. We will discover the body and, with it, ourselves," comments Paolo Woods, Artistic Director of Cortona On The Move.
Joining Paolo Woods in the artistic direction of the festival this year will be the Kublaiklan collective, responsible for the photographic curatorship. For years the group has been deeply exploring this artistic language and carrying out exhibition and research projects aimed at transforming photography into an accessible and conscious means of expression. Kublaiklan, born and raised within Cortona On The Move, represents a tangible example of how the festival is a promoter of the formation of young talent. The collective's contribution underscores the event's crucial role as an incubator of new creative voices.
The Cortona On The Move festival is the brainchild and product of the ONTHEMOVE Cultural Association and is realized with the patronage and contribution of the Region of Tuscany and the Municipality of Cortona, the support of Intesa Sanpaolo and Gallerie d'Italia - main partners - and the support of Autolinee Toscane, Sony - technical partner - and Doctors Without Borders - charity partner.
While waiting to find out the full program of exhibitions for the next edition and the photographers involved, the 3rd edition of the Cortona On The Move Award, an award born out of the desire to support photographers in the development and production of their works, and the 2nd edition of the Vittoria Castagna Award, organized by the ONTHEMOVE Cultural Association and aimed at young people in training or who have already completed their studies in the field of marketing and communication for cultural production, are already confirmed. The winners will be announced on the opening days of the festival. The two coveted prizes last year saw the triumph of Valery Poshtarov, winner of the 2023 edition of the Cortona On The Move Award, who will exhibit his project Father and Son this year, and Silvia Bonaventura, first runner-up of the Vittoria Castagna Award, who is working with the festival team to prepare the next edition.
