Cortona On The Move entstand 2011 aus einer Idee des Kulturvereins ONTHEMOVE, dessen Ziel es ist, zeitgenössische Fotografie auf der Suche nach neuen Visionen und originellen Formen der visuellen Kommunikation zu verbreiten und zu fördern.
Antonio Carloni und Arianna Rinaldo, die bis zur Ausgabe 2021 als Direktor und künstlerische Leiterin fungieren, haben das zeitgenössische dokumentarische Erzählen in den Mittelpunkt des Interesses des Festivals gestellt, mit besonderem Augenmerk auf die unaufhörliche Entwicklung der visuellen Sprache, was Cortona On The Move zu einem internationalen Bezugspunkt macht.
Diese Philosophie wird auch weiterhin die Recherchen der neuen Festivalleiter Veronica Nicolardi und Paolo Woods durchdringen und verstärkt auf die Produktion und Realisierung origineller und unbearbeiteter Inhalte ausgerichtet sein. Das Festival wird so zu einem Protagonisten der internationalen Fotoproduktion und zu einem Bezugspunkt für Fotografen, Kuratoren, Autoren und Kritiker, aber auch für das Publikum. Neben den großen nationalen und internationalen Profis der heutigen Fotowelt bringt das Festival Journalisten, Kritiker, Regisseure, Karikaturisten, Schriftsteller und Musiker zusammen, um Geschichten in Worten, Videos, Tönen und Bildern zu erzählen.
In einer Zeit, in der die Fotografie das modernste und universellste Mittel ist, um über die Welt, in der wir leben, zu sprechen, macht das Festival die Fotografie für die breite Öffentlichkeit zugänglich und verständlich und macht sie zu einem Mittel des Austauschs und der kulturellen Entwicklung.
Durch Bilder feiert Cortona On The Move die Kreativität, teilt Geschichten, entwickelt Fähigkeiten und bereichert das Leben der Besucher. All dies findet in der mittelalterlichen Stadt Cortona statt, deren künstlerisches Erbe das Festival seit seiner ersten Ausgabe zur Geltung bringt: die Festung Fortezza del Girifalco, ein befestigtes Bauwerk mediceischen Ursprungs, das Cortona überragt, historische Gebäude und stimmungsvolle Freiflächen. Ein Rahmen, der zum Reichtum und zur Ausdruckskraft der fotografischen Werke beiträgt.
Cortona On The Move est né en 2011 d'une idée de l'association culturelle ONTHEMOVE dont le but est de diffuser et de promouvoir la photographie contemporaine à la recherche de nouvelles visions et de formes originales de communication visuelle.
Antonio Carloni et Arianna Rinaldo, en tant que directeur et directrice artistique jusqu'à l'édition 2021, ont placé la narration documentaire contemporaine au centre de l'intérêt du festival, avec une attention particulière à l'évolution incessante du langage visuel, faisant de Cortona On The Move un point de référence international.
Cette philosophie continuera d'imprégner les recherches menées par le nouveau directeur du festival, Veronica Nicolardi et Paolo Woods, et sera de plus en plus orientée vers la production et la réalisation de contenus originaux et non édités. Le festival deviendra ainsi un protagoniste de la production photographique internationale et un point de référence pour les photographes, les conservateurs, les auteurs et les critiques, mais aussi clairement pour le public. Aux côtés des grands professionnels nationaux et internationaux du monde de la photographie d'aujourd'hui, le festival réunit des journalistes, des critiques, des réalisateurs, des dessinateurs, des écrivains et des musiciens pour raconter des histoires en mots, en vidéos, en sons et en images.
À l'heure où la photographie est le moyen le plus contemporain et le plus universel de parler du monde dans lequel nous vivons, le festival la rend accessible et compréhensible au grand public et en fait un vecteur d'échange et d'épanouissement culturel.
Grâce aux images, Cortona On The Move célèbre la créativité, partage des histoires, développe des compétences et enrichit la vie des visiteurs. Tout cela se déroule dans la ville médiévale de Cortona, dont le festival valorise le patrimoine artistique depuis sa première édition : la Fortezza del Girifalco, une structure fortifiée d'origine médicéenne qui domine Cortona, des bâtiments historiques et des espaces ouverts évocateurs. Un cadre qui contribue à la richesse et à l'expressivité des œuvres photographiques.

Antonio Carloni e Arianna Rinaldo, nelle vesti di Direttore e di Direttrice artistica fino all’edizione 2021, hanno messo al centro dell’interesse del festival la narrazione documentaristica contemporanea, con particolare attenzione all’incessante evoluzione del linguaggio visivo, rendendo Cortona On The Move un punto di riferimento internazionale.
Questa filosofia continuerà a permeare la ricerca condotta dalla nuova direzione del festival, affidata a Veronica Nicolardi e a Paolo Woods, e sarà indirizzata sempre più verso la produzione e la realizzazione di contenuti originali e inediti. Il festival diventa così un protagonista della produzione fotografica a livello internazionale e un riferimento per fotografi, curatori, autori, critici oltre che chiaramente per il pubblico. Accanto ai grandi professionisti nazionali e internazionali del mondo fotografico di oggi, il festival affianca giornalisti, critici, registi, fumettisti, scrittori e musicisti per raccontare, con parole, video, suoni e immagini, delle storie.
In un momento storico in cui la fotografia rappresenta il mezzo più contemporaneo e universale per parlare del mondo in cui viviamo, il festival la rende accessibile e comprensibile al grande pubblico e ne fa volano di scambio e accrescimento culturale.
Cortona On The Move celebra attraverso le immagini, la creatività, condivide storie, sviluppa competenze e arricchisce la vita dei visitatori. Il tutto nel borgo medievale di Cortona, di cui il festival ne valorizza sin dalla prima edizione, il patrimonio artistico: la Fortezza del Girifalco, struttura fortificata di origine medicea che sovrasta Cortona, palazzi storici e spazi aperti suggestivi. Una cornice che contribuisce a dare ricchezza ed espressività alle opere fotografiche.
Cortona On The Move was born in 2011 from an idea of the Cultural Association ONTHEMOVE whose goal is to spread and promote contemporary photography in search of new visions and original forms of visual communication.
Antonio Carloni and Arianna Rinaldo, in the role of director and artistic director until the 2021 edition, have placed contemporary documentary narration at the center of the festival’s interest, with particular attention to the incessant evolution of visual language, making Cortona On The Move an international reference point.
This philosophy will continue to permeate the research conducted by the new direction of the festival, entrusted to Veronica Nicolardi and Paolo Woods, and will be increasingly directed towards the production and realization of original and unpublished content. The festival thus becomes a protagonist of the photographic production at international level and a reference for photographers, curators, authors, critics as well as for a wide public. Alongside the great national and international professionals of today’s photographic world, the festival brings together journalists, critics, directors, cartoonists, writers and musicians to tell stories with words, videos, sounds and images.
In a historical moment in which photography represents the most contemporary and universal means to apprehend the world we live in, the festival makes it accessible and comprehensible to the general public and turns it in a driving force for exchange and cultural growth.
Cortona On The Move celebrates through images, creativity, shares stories, develops skills and enriches the lives of visitors. All of this takes place in the medieval town of Cortona, whose artistic heritage the festival has been enhancing since its first edition: the Fortezza del Girifalco, a fortified structure of Medicean origin that overlooks Cortona, historical buildings and evocative open spaces. A frame that contributes to give richness and expressiveness to the photographic works.
