Gewohnt, regelmäßig zu reisen, hat das spanische Duo Albarrán Cabrera sein Tempo auf die Ausnahmesituation, die wir erleben. Es liegt in der Intimität der Werkstatt und des Labors, in diesem Kokon der Ruhe und Introspektion, den sie die nötige Inspiration zu finden. Im Gegenzug ernähren sie großzügig ihre Öffentlichkeit in sozialen Netzwerken, durch die Veröffentlichung ihrer Fotos, aber auch durch das Teilen von Zitaten und Quellen, Büchern, Filmen, Kunstwerken, die sich öffnen Fenster in dieser Zeit des Rückzugs und der Enge und erinnern uns, dass Kunst und Natur wunderbare Tröstungen für trauernde Seelen sind.
Unter dem Titel Very Subtle Light wird die Ausstellung, die im Jahr 2021 in der Galerie Esther Woerdehoff präsentiert eine neue Auswahl ihrer Werke und zeigt dem ihre neuesten Forschungsergebnisse zu veröffentlichen. Auf die edle Drucktechnik, die ihren Ruf unter Sammlern weltweit - ein Pigmentdruck auf japanischem Gampi-Papier und Blattgold - werden mit anderen Experimenten kombiniert, gewissenhaft auf den Bildgegenstand abgestimmt: Silberdrucke, Prozesse, etc. von Cyanotypie oder Platin-Palladium, Drehungen, Zugabe von Glimmer und wertvolle Pigmente. Zum ersten Mal präsentieren die Künstler die Ergebnisse eines brandneuen Verfahrens für den Druck auf Glas, ein echtes "fotografisches Objekt"... die primitive Prozesse evoziert und eine fragile Materialität und transparent für das Bild.
Die ausgestellten Werke aus den verschiedenen Serien zeigen die Natur in ihren unterschiedlichen Formen. Eine kosmologische Vision, die die Erde, den Fels, die Ozeane, die Bäume heraufbeschwört oder die Blumen, die Tiere. Was uns als Menschen an den Planeten bindet, hat aus Sternenstaub, die jüngsten Bewohner einer alten, aber zerbrechlichen Welt, einer ein Planet, der nur ein verlorener Punkt in der Unendlichkeit des Kosmos ist. Durch einen Schatten, ein Spiel des Lichts oder der Farben, ihre Fotografien hinterlassen immer einen Teil des Bildes. des Geheimnisses, eine Freiheit, die dem Betrachter für seine eigene Interpretation, seine eigene Emotion, gefühlt nach seinen Erfahrungen und Erinnerungen. Durch ihre Werke, Albarrán Cabrera ruft dazu auf, "unsere Beziehung zu den Ozeanen wiederherzustellen, den Erde und die Natur als Ganzes", eine wesentliche Botschaft an unsere Menschheit. und zu lange ignoriert.
Diese Ausstellung wird auch eine Gelegenheit sein, auf die Veröffentlichung ihres neuesten Buches hinzuweisen, veröffentlicht in diesem Herbst in der EXB-Workshops-Kollektion "Des Oiseaux".
Habitué des voyages réguliers, le duo espagnol Albarrán Cabrera a adapté son rythme à la situation exceptionnelle que nous connaissons. C'est dans l'intimité de l'atelier et du laboratoire, dans ce cocon de calme et d'introspection, qu'ils trouvent l'inspiration nécessaire. En retour, ils nourrissent généreusement leur public sur les réseaux sociaux, en publiant leurs photographies, mais aussi en partageant des citations et des sources, livres, films, oeuvres d'art qui ouvrent des fenêtres dans cette époque de repli et d'enfermement et nous rappellent que l'art et la nature sont de merveilleuses consolations pour les âmes en peine.
Sous le titre Very Subtle Light, l'exposition qui ouvre l'année 2021 à la Galerie Esther Woerdehoff présente une sélection inédite de leurs oeuvres et révèle au public leurs dernières recherches. À la précieuse technique de tirage qui fait leur réputation auprès des collectionneurs du monde entier - un tirage pigmentaire sur papier japonais gampi et feuille d'or - s'allient d'autres expérimentations, adaptées en conscience au sujet de l'image : tirages argentiques, procédés anciens du cyanotype ou du platine-palladium, virages, ajout de mica et de pigments précieux. Pour la première fois, les artistes présentent les résultats d’un tout nouveau procédé de tirage sur verre, véritable "objet photographique" qui évoque les procédés primitifs et ajoute une matérialité fragile et transparente à l'image.
Issues de leurs différentes séries, les oeuvres exposées dévoilent la nature dans une vision cosmologique qui évoque la terre, la roche, les océans, les arbres ou les fleurs, les animaux. Ce qui nous lie à la planète en tant qu'humains faits de poussière d'étoile, habitants récents d'un monde ancien mais fragile, d'une planète qui n'est qu'un point perdu dans l'infini du cosmos. Par une ombre, un jeu de lumière ou de couleurs, leurs photographies laissent toujours une part de mystère, une liberté offerte au spectateur pour sa propre interprétation, sa propre émotion, ressentie selon son vécu et ses souvenirs. Par leurs oeuvres, Albarrán Cabrera nous appellent à "rétablir notre relation avec les océans, la terre et la nature dans son ensemble", un message essentiel à notre humanité et trop longtemps ignoré.
Cette exposition sera aussi l'occasion d'évoquer la parution de leur dernier livre, publié cet automne dans la collection des Ateliers EXB "Des Oiseaux".
Used to travelling, Spanish duo Albarrán Cabrera has adapted its pace to the exceptional situation we are all facing. It is in the intimacy of the studio and the laboratory, in this cocoon of quietness and introspection, that they have found the inspiration they need. In return, they generously nourish their audience on social networks, publishing their photographs, but also sharing quotes and references, books, films, artworks, that open windows in this time of isolation and confinement to remind us that art and nature are wonderful consolations for troubled souls.
Under the title Very Subtle Light, the opening exhibition for 2021 at the Esther Woerdehoff Gallery presents a new selection of their works and reveals their latest research to the public. In addition to the precious printing technique that has established their reputation among world collectors - a pigment print on Japanese gampi paper and gold leaf - other experimentations, chosen with mindfulness for each image, are also presented: silver prints, early cyanotype or platinum-palladium processes, the addition of mica and precious pigments or toning of the prints. For the first time, the artists also present the results of a brand new process : prints made on glass, a genuine "photographic object" that evokes the primitive processes and gives a fragile and transparent materiality to the image.
Chosen from their different open series, the works on show unveil Nature in a cosmological vision that evokes the earth, stones, oceans, trees and flowers, animals. All theses things that bind us to the planet as humans made of stardust, recent inhabitants of an ancient but fragile world, of a planet that is only a "pale blue dot" in the infinity of the cosmos. Through shadows, game of light or colors, their photographs always keep a part of mystery, a freedom given to the spectator for his own interpretation, his own emotion he can feel and relates to his experiences and memories. Through their works, Albarrán Cabrera invites us to "re-establish our relationship with the oceans, the Earth and Nature as a whole", a message essential to our humanity and for too long ignored.
This exhibition will also evoke their latest book, published this autumn in Ateliers EXB "Des Oiseaux" collection.(
