Was sie aufzeichnet, ist die Brüderlichkeit, Solidarität und Hoffnung, die sie als Gemeinschaft verbindet, trotz der Situationen von Langeweile, Gewalt und Verzweiflung, mit denen sie oft konfrontiert sind. Gün übersetzt den widersprüchlichen Wunsch, den sie in diesen jungen Männern sieht, einerseits zu verbergen und andererseits das Bedürfnis, sich selbst zu zeigen, in poetische Bilder, die sich in eine Gruppe einfühlen, die oft mit negativen Stereotypen belastet ist. In ihren Fotografien werden die Vororte zu einem Universum für sich, außer Sichtweite oder Interesse der Regierung, in dem Perspektivlosigkeit mit starker Solidarität einhergeht.
Solène Gün studierte Fotografie an der ECAL (CH). Im Jahr 2018 erhielt sie für ihr Promotionsprojekt Turunç den Photoforum-Preis 2018 und die Swiss Design Awards 2019. Die Serie wurde auch für den MACK First Book Award 2019 nominiert. Solène Gün lebt und arbeitet in Biel (CH).
Solène Gün ist der dritte Preisträgerin des Florentiner Riem Vis Grants, das zum Gedenken an Florentiner Riem Vis (1959-2016) eingerichtet wurde. Das Stipendium wird jährlich mit dem Ziel vergeben, den fotografischen Nachwuchs bei der Entwicklung seiner künstlerischen Karriere zu unterstützen.
What she records is the fraternity, solidarity and hope that connects them as a community, despite the situations of boredom, violence and despair they are often confronted with. Gün translates the contradictory desire that she sees in these young men, on the one hand to hide and on the other the need to show oneself, into poetic images that empathise with a group that is often burdened with negative stereotyping. In her photographs, the suburbs become a universe apart, out of sight or interest of the government, in which a lack of perspective goes hand in hand with strong solidarity.
Solène Gün studied photography at ECAL (CH). In 2018 she received the Photoforum Prize 2018 and the Swiss Design Awards 2019 for her graduation project Turunç. The series was also shortlisted for the MACK First Book Award in 2019. Solène Gün lives and works in Bienne (CH).
Solène Gün is the third recipient of the Florentine Riem Vis Grant, which was established in memory of Florentine Riem Vis (1959-2016). The grant is awarded annually with the goal of supporting young photographic talent in the development of their artistic career.
