Das Bildarchiv, das rund 300.000 Bilder und Videos umfasst, gibt uns einen unverstellten Einblick in das tägliche Leben der irakischen Bevölkerung, wie sie es mit ihren Augen sehen. Von Selfies über Fotos von geliebten Menschen bis hin zu Snapchat-Videos an der Front zeigt uns dieses Werk die widersprüchlichen Realitäten, die im Land existieren. Mit diesem Projekt geht Alexandra Rose Howland über das oft eindimensionale Narrativ der Medien hinaus und fügt eine weitere Perspektive hinzu, nämlich die des irakischen Volkes.

Grâce aux archives photographiques, qui comprennent environ 300 000 images et vidéos, nous avons un aperçu de la vie quotidienne des Irakiens, vue à travers leurs yeux. Des selfies aux photos des proches en passant par les vidéos Snapchat sur la ligne de front, ce travail nous présente les réalités contradictoires qui existent dans le pays. Avec ce projet, Alexandra Rose Howland va au-delà du récit souvent unidimensionnel des médias et ajoute une autre perspective, celle du peuple irakien.

Attraverso l'archivio fotografico che consiste di circa 300.000 immagini e video, ci viene dato uno sguardo candido nella vita quotidiana degli iracheni vista attraverso i loro occhi. Dai selfies alle foto dei propri cari ai video di Snapchat in prima linea, questo lavoro ci presenta le realtà conflittuali che esistono nel paese. Con questo progetto, Alexandra Rose Howland va oltre la narrazione spesso unidimensionale dei media e aggiunge un'altra prospettiva, quella del popolo iracheno.

Through the archive of pictures which consists of roughly 300.000 images and videos, we are given a candid look into the daily life of Iraqi people as seen through their eyes. From selfies to photos of loved ones to Snapchat videos on the frontline, this work presents us with the conflicting realities that exist within the country. With this project, Alexandra Rose Howland goes beyond the often one-dimensional narrative of the media and adds another perspective, that of the Iraqi people.
