Der berühmte britische Fotograf präsentiert zum ersten Mal in Italien, in der Galerie 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS in Mailand, eine Einzelausstellung in ständiger Veränderung. Innerhalb von vier Monaten wird die Öffentlichkeit die Entwicklung eines eigens für diesen Anlass konzipierten Ausstellungsprojekts verfolgen können.
Einzigartig in seiner Art - drei Jahre nach der Präsentation von Outside In während der Mailänder Modewoche 2016 - ist die Ausstellung Rankin: From Portraiture to Fashion eines der ambitioniertesten und komplexesten Projekte, das jemals in Zusammenarbeit mit einer Galerie konzipiert wurde.
Rankin: From Portraiture to Fashion ist ein echter Rundgang durch das Archiv des Fotografen mit dem Ziel, nicht nur seine ikonischen Werke, sondern auch seine konzeptionellsten Werke sichtbar zu machen und so die zeitgenössische Natur des Künstlers einer neuen Generation von Sammlern zu präsentieren.
Der Ausstellungsvorschlag, der sich über vier Monate erstreckt, sieht Änderungen von Werken und ganzen Installationen vor, um einige der markanten Ereignisse des Mailänder Kalenders wie das Vogue Photo Festival, das Fashion Film Festival (beide im November) und die Mailänder Modewoche im Februar zu feiern und so eine einzigartige Gelegenheit für den Dialog zwischen dem Autor und den kulturellen Vorschlägen einer der Hauptstädte von Design und Mode in Europa zu schaffen.

1991 gründete er zusammen mit Jefferson Hack das Monatsmagazin Dazed & Confused: Seitdem hat er über 40 Bücher und Zeitschriften AnOther, AnOther Man und Hunger herausgegeben, ein Semester für Mode, Kunst, Musik, Lifestyle mit detaillierten Informationen zu Webinhalten.
Seine Werke werden überall veröffentlicht, von seinen eigenen Zeitschriften über Elle, Vogue, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone und Wonderland bis hin zu Galerien auf der ganzen Welt, darunter das MoMA in New York und das Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Er lebt mit seiner Frau Tuuli und ihren Hunden in London.
Il celebre fotografo britannico presenta per la prima volta in Italia, presso la galleria 29 ARTS IN PROGRESS di Milano, una personale in continua trasformazione. Nell’arco di quattro mesi il pubblico potrà assistere all’evoluzione di un progetto espositivo ideato espressamente per l’occasione.
Unico nel suo genere – dopo tre anni dalla presentazione di Outside In durante la Fashion Week di Milano del 2016 –, lo show Rankin: From Portraiture to Fashion rappresenta uno dei progetti più ambiziosi e complessi mai concepiti in collaborazione con una galleria.
Rankin: From Portraiture to Fashion vuole essere un vero e proprio tour nell’archivio del fotografo con l’obiettivo di dare visibilità non solo ai suoi lavori più iconici, ma anche alle opere più concettuali, presentando così la contemporaneità dell’artista a una nuova generazione di collezionisti.
La proposta espositiva, rivelandosi compiutamente nell’arco di quattro mesi, prevede cambi di opere e di interi allestimenti al fine di celebrare alcuni degli eventi distintivi del calendario milanese come il Vogue Photo Festival, il Fashion Film Festival (entrambi a novembre) e la Milano Fashion Week di febbraio, creando così un’originale occasione di dialogo tra l’autore e le proposte culturali di una delle capitali del design e della moda in Europa.

Nel 1991 insieme a Jefferson Hack fonda il mensile Dazed & Confused: da allora cura oltre 40 libri e le riviste AnOther, AnOther Man e Hunger, semestrale di moda, arte, musica, lifestyle con approfondimenti sui contenuti web.
I suoi lavori sono pubblicati ovunque, dalle proprie riviste fino a Elle, Vogue, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone e Wonderland, ed esposti nelle gallerie di tutto il mondo tra cui il MoMA di New York e il Victoria & Albert Museum di Londra.
Vive a Londra con sua moglie Tuuli e i loro cani.
Photographer Rankin launches four month evolving exhibition at 29 Arts in Progress, Milan.
In the first its kind, Rankin’s first solo exhibition in Milan since his 2016 Fashion Week project Outside In, Rankin: From Portraiture to Fashion allows the iconic photographer to experiment with one of his most complex gallery productions to date.
Showcasing Rankin’s picks of his favourite images – including those of his best known subjects and his more conceptual work. Rankin: From Portraiture to Fashion is an archival tour through Rankin’s best known work and introduces this industry-leading photographer to a new generation of photography collectors.
Taking place across four months this show will rotate work, constantly evolving in time with Milan’s cultural calendar – celebrating, amongst others, Vogue Photo Festival (November), Fashion Film Festival (November) and Women’s Fashion Week (February).
Allowing the photographer to explore not only his own work but the cultural appetites and changing moods of a leading European city.

ABOUT RANKIN
Rankin co-founded the seminal magazine Dazed & Confused with Jefferson Hack in 1991, and has since published the likes of AnOther and AnOther Man, alongside over 40 books and the biannual fashion, culture and lifestyle print and digital platform, Hunger.
His photography has been published everywhere from his own publications to Elle, Vogue, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone, and Wonderland, and exhibited in galleries around the world, including MoMA, New York, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
He lives in London with his wife Tuuli and their dogs.
