Ludovic Carème, der seit mehr als zehn Jahren in Brasilien lebt, gibt uns in diesem Buch ein kompromissloses Portrait des heutigen Brasilien. Er konzentrierte sich auf die Stadt São Paulo und insbesondere auf die Bewohner der Favela Agua Branca, die arme Arbeiter sind, die zwischen ständiger polizeilicher Schikanierung und der Unmöglichkeit, trotz ihrer Arbeitsplätze zu wohnen, gefangen sind. Seine kraftvollen Porträts zeugen von der Ausgrenzung eines Teils der Bevölkerung und den gigantischen sozialen Unterschieden, die sich ständig vergrößern. Beim Rundgang durch die Stadt berichtet er auch über die moradores da rua, jene Obdachlosen außerhalb des Systems, die auf den Bürgersteigen inmitten verlassener Gebäude in der Innenstadt von São Paulo verschwinden.
Ludovic Carème veröffentlichte gleichzeitig ein zweites Buch über seine Arbeit in Brasilien, Amazonien, über den Primärwald und seine Gummiaktivitäten am Amazonas (Xavier Barral Publishing, 2019).
Habitant depuis plus de dix ans au Brésil, Ludovic Carème nous livre dans cet ouvrage un portrait sans concession du Brésil actuel. Il s’est intéressé à la ville de São Paulo et plus particulièrement aux habitants de la favela Agua Branca qui sont des travailleurs pauvres piégés entre les harcèlements policiers constants et l’impossibilité de se loger malgré leur emploi. Ses portraits puissants témoignent d’une exclusion d’une partie de la population et des écarts sociaux gigantesques qui ne cessent de se creuser. Arpentant la ville, il rend également compte des moradores da rua, ces sans-abris hors du système qui disparaissent sur les trottoirs au milieu des immeubles abandonnés du centre ville de São Paulo.
Ludovic Carème publie simultanément un deuxième ouvrage sur son travail au Brésil, Amazonie, sur la forêt primaire et ses exploitations de caoutchouc le long du fleuve Amazonie (Éditions Xavier Barral, 2019).
Ludovic Carème, who has lived in Brazil for more than ten years, gives us in this book an uncompromising portrait of today's Brazil. He focused on the city of São Paulo and more particularly on the inhabitants of the Agua Branca favela who are poor workers trapped between constant police harassment and the impossibility of housing despite their jobs. His powerful portraits testify to the exclusion of part of the population and the gigantic social gaps that are constantly widening. Walking around the city, he also reports on the moradores da rua, those homeless people outside the system who disappear on the sidewalks in the middle of abandoned buildings in downtown São Paulo.
Ludovic Carème simultaneously published a second book on his work in Brazil, Amazonia, on the primary forest and its rubber operations along the Amazon River (Xavier Barral Publishing, 2019).
