Portrait(s) célèbre cette année ses dix ans ! En cette occasion particulière, Portrait(s) s'installe au palais des Congrès où seront présentées les expositions en intérieur. Ce lieu emblématique de la ville, situé au sein du parc thermal, s'ajoute aux autres lieux d'exposition du festival, situés en extérieur : sur l'esplanade du lac d'Allier, place Saint-Louis et sur le parvis de la gare. Treize expositions constituent le riche parcours photographique proposé en ce dixième anniversaire.
Sur l’Esplanade du Lac d’Allier :
Une rétrospective. En associant le portrait photographique, la tradition picturale, le goût de la mise en scène et du costume, Omar Victor Diop métisse les pratiques et construit une oeuvre à la fois séduisante et politique, engagée dans une réévaluation salutaire de l'histoire des peuples noirs.
Au Palais des Congrès
Im Palais des Congrès Frech und humorvoll lässt uns Meryl Meisler in eine faszinierende Stadt und eine faszinierende Zeit eintauchen, das New York der 1970er und 1980er Jahre. In ihren Bildern feiert sie Discoabende und Stripclubs, ihre jüdische Familie und die Vororte von Long Island oder das Leben an einem College in einem der gefährlichsten Viertel von Brooklyn. Henrike Stahl und Éric Poupy, Fotograf und Zeichner, präsentieren eine immersive Installation, die Fotografien und Zeichnungen miteinander verbindet. Die hybriden Praktiken dieses Duos spielen gleichzeitig mit dem Zentrum und dem Rand, der Einzigartigkeit und dem Teilen. Ihre grafischen und poetischen Bilder laden den Betrachter dazu ein, seinen Blickwinkel zu verändern - auf die Fotografie und auf die Welt... Kourtney Roy erkundete zwei Jahre lang die Gegend um den Highway 16 in Kanada, der auch "Straße der Tränen" genannt wird und seit über vierzig Jahren Schauplatz des unerklärlichen Verschwindens von Frauen aus der indigenen Bevölkerung ist. Sie fotografierte hier einen Buschhaufen, dort eine Tankstelle oder ein einsames Haus, das gleichzeitig in die Landschaft und in die Erinnerung eingeht.
Charlotte Boudon und Marie Magnier von der Galerie Les filles du calvaire bringen das diesjährige Festival zum Swingen, indem sie eine Auswahl an Fotografien, Videos und Clips rund um das Thema Körper in Bewegung präsentieren. Von den Vahinés von Charles Fréger bis zu den Breakers von Janette Beckman - willkommen beim Tanz! Mit seiner Serie Circesque verleiht Christian Tagliavini einer atemberaubenden Galaxie von Zirkusleuten Gestalt: Akrobaten, Jongleure, Seiltänzer, Artisten auf dem Hochseil, Entfesselungskünstler - sie leben in seiner Fantasie, bevor sie seine Kompositionen beleben, die Engel und Narren, das Schöne und das Seltsame miteinander paaren. Alain Willaume produziert seinerseits ein rätselhaftes Werk, das unsere Gewissheiten verwischt. Jeder sieht darin die Reflexion seiner eigenen Fragen über unsere Zeit... Zwischen Schönheit und Bedrohung, Beschwichtigung und Dissidenz zeigt seine Welt bereits die Welt danach, wenn die ruhigen Gewässer die Kehrseite der unruhigen Gewässer sind. Der Fotograf und Sammler Olivier Culmann, ein Kenner Indiens, hat eine erstaunliche Sammlung von Schwarz-Weiß-Porträts aus dem Komath Studio, einem Fotostudio in der Stadt Cochin in Kerala, zusammengestellt. Die Bilder, die sich über einen Zeitraum von mehr als fünfzig Jahren erstrecken, zeugen von den strengen Regeln, die in den indischen Studios für Porträts galten.
Platz Saint-Louis
Mit der britischen und distanzierten Feststellung Life actually liefert The Anonymous Project eine Auswahl an intimen Momenten und Familienporträts aus seiner reichen Sammlung an bunten Kodachrome-Filmen. Manchmal komische Situationen, oft unbeschwerte Momente - sie erzählen die Geschichten unseres Lebens und verraten uns mehr über unsere Gemeinsamkeiten und unsere Menschlichkeit. Sie sind eine fröhliche Feier des Lebens, ungefiltert und ehrlich.
Worte, um zu sehen :
Portrait(s) und die Unternehmensstiftung Neuflize OBC setzen das 2018 umgesetzte innovative Projekt fort: die Schätze dieser Unternehmenssammlung einer breiten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. Über eine Vermittlung wird ein Dispositiv zur Analyse und zum Austausch über die Werke angeboten, um ein offenes und kontinuierliches Gespräch zwischen Publikum, Schulklassen, Experten und Künstlern zu fördern. In diesem Jahr werden drei Werke von Valérie Belin für die Dauer des Festivals präsentiert. Die von der Mediatorin im Vorfeld der Ausstellung gesammelten Kommentare des Publikums werden im Ausstellungsraum übertragen.
Die Stimme des Blicks
Anlässlich seiner zehnten Ausgabe initiiert Portrait(s) ein neues fotografisches Treffen, indem es Brigitte Patient zu einer akustischen und visuellen Carte Blanche einlädt. Die einzigartige Stimme von Brigitte Patient wird im Dialog mit einer Fotografie der Britin Tish Murtha zu hören sein, um die Neugierde und den Wunsch zu wecken, etwas zu sehen...
8. Fotografische Residenz
Die fotografische Residenz wird in diesem Jahr dem französischen Regisseur Christophe Acker anvertraut, der mit Schülern der Tanzschulen von Vichy, einer Reiterin und einer Akrobatin an dem erstaunlichen Vorschlag einer "getanzten" Stadtbesichtigung gearbeitet hat. Der Film und die Fotografien werden auf dem Bahnhofsvorplatz präsentiert und der Film im Palais des Congrès vorgeführt.
Portrait(s) lädt in die Schule ein
Als weiteres pädagogisches Projekt des Festivals wird diese Ausstellung die Arbeiten einer dritten Klasse des Collège des Célestins zeigen, die unter der Aufsicht des Vermittlungsteams des Festivals zum Thema "Hinter den Kulissen" durchgeführt wurden.

Au Palais des Congrès Avec impertinence et humour, Meryl Meisler, nous plonge dans une ville et une époque fascinantes, le New York des années 1970 et 1980. Ses clichés célèbrent tout à la fois les soirées disco et les clubs de strip-tease, sa famille juive et la banlieue de Long Island ou la vie d'un collège dans un des quartiers les plus dangereux de Brooklyn. Henrike Stahl et Éric Poupy, photographe et dessinateur, présentent une installation immersive associant photographies et dessins. Les pratiques hybrides de ce duo jouent à la fois du centre et de la marge, de l'unicité et du partage. Graphiques et poétiques, leurs images invitent le regardeur à modifier son point de vue, sur la photographie et sur le monde... Kourtney Roy a exploré deux ans les alentours de la Highway 16 au Canada, aussi appelée « route des larmes », théâtre de disparitions inexpliquées de femmes indigènes depuis plus de quarante ans, photographiant ici un tas de broussailles, là une station-service ou une maison isolée, rentrant à la fois dans le paysage et dans les mémoires.
Charlotte Boudon et Marie Magnier, de la galerie Les filles du calvaire, font swinguer le festival cette année en proposant un choix de photographies, de vidéos et de clips autour du thème du corps en mouvement. Des vahinés de Charles Fréger aux breakers de Janette Beckman, bienvenue dans la danse ! Avec sa série Circesque, Christian Tagliavini donne corps à une galaxie étourdissante de gens du cirque : acrobates, jongleurs, funambules, artistes de la corde raide, artistes de l'évasion, ils vivent dans son imagination avant d'animer ses compositions qui apparient l'ange et le bouffon, le beau et l'étrange. Alain Willaume, de son côté, produit une oeuvre énigmatique qui brouille nos certitudes. Chacun y perçoit le reflet de ses propres questionnements sur notre époque... Entre beauté et menace, apaisement et dissidence, son monde figure déjà le monde d'après, quand les eaux calmes sont le revers des eaux troublées. Grand connaisseur de l'Inde, le photographe et collectionneur Olivier Culmann a réuni un ensemble étonnant de portraits en noir et blanc issus du Komath Studio, studio photo établi dans la ville de Cochin, dans le Kerala. Les images, qui s'échelonnent sur plus de cinquante ans, témoignent des codes rigoureux qui régissent le portrait dans les studios indiens.
Place Saint-Louis
À travers la constatation britannique et détachée Life actually, The Anonymous Project livre une sélection de moments intimes et portraits de famille, extraite de sa riche collection de Kodachrome colorés. Situations cocasses parfois, instants insouciants souvent, ils racontent les histoires de nos vies et nous en disent plus sur nos points communs et notre humanité. Ils sont une célébration joyeuse de la vie, sans filtre et honnête.
Des mots pour voir :
Portrait(s) et la Fondation d'entreprise Neuflize OBC poursuivent le projet innovant mis en oeuvre en 2018 : porter à la connaissance du grand public les trésors de cette collection d'entreprise. Un dispositif d'analyse et d'échange autour des oeuvres est proposé via une médiation afin de favoriser une conversation ouverte et continue entre le public, les scolaires, les experts et les artistes. Cette année, trois oeuvres de Valérie Belin sont présentées le temps du festival. Les commentaires du public recueillis par la médiatrice en amont de l'exposition sont diffusés dans la salle d'exposition.
La voix du regard
À l'occasion de sa dixième édition, Portrait(s) initie un nouveau rendez-vous photographique en invitant Brigitte Patient à une carte blanche sonore et visuelle. La parole singulière de Brigitte Patient s'y donne à entendre, en dialogue avec une photographie de la Britannique Tish Murtha, histoire d'entretenir la curiosité et susciter le désir de voir...
8e résidence photographique
La résidence photographique est confiée cette année au réalisateur Français Christophe Acker qui a travaillé, avec des élèves d'écoles de danse de Vichy, une cavalière et une acrobate, à l'étonnante proposition d'une visite « dansée » de la ville, à travers un film et des photographies présentés sur le parvis de la gare, et le film projeté au palais des Congrès.
Portrait(s) s'invite à l'école
Autre projet pédagogique du festival, cette exposition présentera les travaux d'une classe de troisième du collège des Célestins, effectués sous la supervision de l'équipe de médiation du festival, sur le thème de l' ”envers du décor”.

Quest'anno Portrait(s) festeggia il suo decimo anniversario! In questa occasione speciale, Portrait(s) si terrà al Palais des Congrès, dove verranno presentate le mostre interne. Questo luogo emblematico della città, situato nel cuore del parco termale, si aggiunge agli altri luoghi espositivi del festival, situati all'esterno: sulla spianata del lago di Allier, sulla place Saint-Louis e sulla piazza della stazione. Tredici mostre compongono il ricco itinerario fotografico proposto per questo decimo anniversario.
Sull'Esplanade du Lac d'Allier :
Una retrospettiva. Combinando il ritratto fotografico, la tradizione pittorica, il gusto per la messa in scena e il costume, Omar Victor Diop mescola le pratiche e costruisce un'opera al tempo stesso seducente e politica, impegnata in una salutare rivalutazione della storia dei popoli neri.

Le pratiche ibride di questo duo giocano sia sul centro che sul margine, sull'unicità e sulla condivisione. Grafiche e poetiche, le loro immagini invitano lo spettatore a cambiare il proprio punto di vista, sulla fotografia e sul mondo... Kourtney Roy ha trascorso due anni a esplorare l'area intorno alla Highway 16 in Canada, nota anche come "Highway of Tears", teatro di inspiegabili sparizioni di donne indigene per più di quarant'anni, fotografando qui un mucchio di sterpaglie, lì una stazione di servizio o una casa isolata, entrando sia nel paesaggio che nei ricordi.

Tra bellezza e minaccia, acquiescenza e dissidenza, il suo mondo è già il mondo dopo, quando le acque calme sono il contrario delle acque agitate. Grande conoscitore dell'India, il fotografo e collezionista Olivier Culmann ha riunito una sorprendente collezione di ritratti in bianco e nero provenienti dal Komath Studio, uno studio fotografico situato nella città di Cochin, nel Kerala. Le immagini, che coprono un arco di tempo di oltre cinquant'anni, testimoniano i rigorosi codici che regolano la ritrattistica negli studi indiani.

Attraverso l'osservazione britannica e distaccata Life, The Anonymous Project offre una selezione di momenti intimi e ritratti di famiglia, estratti dalla sua ricca collezione di Kodachrome colorate. Situazioni a volte divertenti, spesso momenti spensierati, raccontano le storie della nostra vita e ci dicono qualcosa in più sulla nostra comunanza e umanità. Sono una gioiosa celebrazione della vita, senza filtri e onesta.
Parole da vedere :
Portrait(s) e la Fondazione aziendale OBC di Neuflize proseguono il progetto innovativo realizzato nel 2018: portare i tesori di questa collezione aziendale all'attenzione del grande pubblico. Viene proposto un sistema di analisi e scambio intorno alle opere attraverso la mediazione, per favorire una conversazione aperta e continua tra pubblico, scolaresche, esperti e artisti. Quest'anno, durante il festival vengono presentate tre opere di Valérie Belin. I commenti del pubblico raccolti dal mediatore prima della mostra vengono trasmessi nella sala espositiva.

In occasione della sua decima edizione, Portrait(s) inaugura un nuovo evento fotografico invitando Brigitte Patient a una carta bianca di suoni e visioni. La voce singolare di Brigitte Patient sarà ascoltata in dialogo con una fotografia dell'artista britannica Tish Murtha, al fine di mantenere la curiosità e suscitare il desiderio di vedere...
8a residenza fotografica
La residenza fotografica di quest'anno è affidata al regista francese Christophe Acker, che ha lavorato con le allieve delle scuole di danza di Vichy, una cavallerizza e un'acrobata, alla sorprendente proposta di un tour "danzato" della città, attraverso un film e delle fotografie presentate sul piazzale della stazione, e il film proiettato al Palazzo dei Congressi.
Ritratto/i si invita a scuola
Un altro dei progetti educativi del festival, questa mostra presenterà il lavoro di una classe di terza elementare del Collège des Célestins, realizzato sotto la supervisione dell'équipe di mediazione del festival, sul tema del "backstage".

Portrait(s) celebrates its tenth anniversary this year!
On this special occasion, Portrait(s) occupies the Convention Centre where the inside exhibitions will be staged. This emblematic city site, located at the centre of the thermal park, takes its place alongside the other festival exhibition sites located outside: the esplanade along Lac d’Allier, Place Saint-Louis, and the station square. Thirteen exhibitions make up the rich photographic adventure being proposed for this, its tenth anniversary, with one new encounter taking place at the heart of the festival, La voix du regard (The Voice of the Gaze), an audio/ visual carte blanche.
Lac d’Allier esplanade
A retrospective. Through a combination of the photographic portrait, the pictorial tradition and the taste of staging and costume, Omar Victor Diop mixes practices and builds a work that is both seductive and political, one committed to a salutary re-evaluation of the history of Black people.
Convention Centre
Impertinent and humorous, Meryl Meisler plunges us into a captivating city and times, 1970s and 1980s New York. Her shots celebrate disco evenings and strip-tease clubs, her Jewish family and Long Island suburb, or life in a high school in one of the roughest Brooklyn neighbourhoods. Henrike Stahl and Éric Poupy, a photographer and a designer, present an immersive installation combining photographs and drawings. The hybrid practices of this duo play at the centre and on the edge, on oneness and division, all at the same time. Their graphic, poetic images invite the onlooker to modify their point of view on photography and the world… For two years, Kourtney Roy studied the land along Highway 16 in Canada, also known as the Highway of Tears, where Indigenous women have mysteriously been disappearing for over forty years. Here she photographs a pile of undergrowth, there a service station or a solitary house, simultaneously stepping into landscape and memory.
Charlotte Boudon and Marie Magnier, from the Galerie Les filles du calvaire, make the festival swing this year by offering a choice of photos, videos and clips all about the body in motion. From Charles Fréger’s wahine girls to Jeanette Beckman’s break dancers, welcome to the dance! With his series Circesque, Christian Tagliavini gives body to a stunning galaxy of circus performers who live in his imagination before they bring life to his compositions, which pair off the angel and the buffoon, the beautiful and the strange. From his side, Alain Willaume produces a mysterious work that blurs our certainties. Everyone sees in it the reflection of their own questions about our time… Poised between marvel and menace, appeasement and dissidence, his world already depicts the afterworld, when calm waters are the reverse of troubled waters. Olivier Culmann, a photographer and collector with a profound knowledge of India, has brought together an astounding combination of black and white portraits from the Komath Studio, a photo studio in Kochi, Kerala. These pictures, which spread over more than fifty years, bear witness to the strict codes governing portraits in Indian studios.
Place Saint-Louis
Through the casual British acknowledgement Life actually, The Anonymous Project provides a selection of intimate moments and family portraits from its rich collection of Kodachrome colour prints. These sometimes comical, sometimes worrying situations tell the story of our lives and more about our common points and our humanity. They are an unfiltered, honest, joyful celebration of life. Des mots pour voir (Words to See) Portrait(s) and the Neuflize OBC Enterprise Foundation are pursuing the innovative projet that was launched in 2018: to bring the treasures of the Neuflize OBC Enterprise Collection to the knowledge of the general public, a device for analytic encounters about the works to encourage an open, ongoing dialogue between members of the public, academics, experts and artists. This year, three works by Valérie Belin are being shown at the festival. Public comments gathered by the mediator over the exhibition will be circulated in the exhibition room.

On this, its tenth anniversary, Portrait(s) is launching a new photography encounter by inviting Brigitte Patient to an audio/visual carte blanche. Brigitte Patient’s unique words devote themselves to hearing, in dialogue with a photograph by British photographer Trish Murtha, a story about sustaining curiosity and arousing the desire to see….
8th Photography Residency
This year’s photography residency has been awarded to French artist Christophe Acker who has worked with the students at Vichy dance schools, a horsewoman and an acrobat to create the astounding offer of a “danced” visit around the city through photographs and film stills that are on show at the station square, and a film being shown at the Convention Centre.
Portrait(s) invites itself to school
This exhibition, which is another of the festival’s teaching projects, will feature works by ninth-grade students at the Collège des Célestins produced under the supervision of the festival’s mediator team, on the theme of “the seamy side of décor”.
