Die zwei Jahre, in denen das Festival verhindert war, waren produktiv. Zunächst fassten wir unter dem Namen ImageSingulières das Centre photographique documentaire, unseren ganzjährigen Veranstaltungsraum (ehemals Maison de l'Image Documentaire, gegründet 2011) und das Festival zusammen. Das Centre photographique wurde später erweitert, wobei die Ausstellungsfläche verdoppelt wurde. So konnten wir dort das gesamte Programm des Festivals 2021 präsentieren, mit zwei Ausstellungen alle zwei Monate. Für 2022 sind wir voller Enthusiasmus und freuen uns darauf, Fotografiebegeisterte wieder zu unserer 14. Ausgabe des Festivals ImageSingulières einzuladen!
Das Jahr 2022 markiert auch eine Rückkehr zu unseren Wurzeln an einem unserer Lieblingsorte, dem Chai des Moulins, der das pulsierende Herz des Festivals sein wird. Von Donnerstag, dem 26. Mai, bis Sonntag, dem 29. Mai, werden hier die Filmabende stattfinden, die Fotoverlegergruppe France PhotoBook, Diskussionsrunden, Musik und natürlich die Ausstellungen.
Die Ausstellung der libanesischen Fotografin Myriam Boulos, Gewinnerin des ISEM Grand Prix 2021 für Dokumentarfotografie und jüngstes Mitglied der Agentur Magnum, wird uns die Gelegenheit geben, die jüngste Geschichte Beiruts nachzuzeichnen. Wir werden auch eine wichtige Szenografie des neuen Projekts "Fragiles" des Kollektivs Tendance Floue mit Unterstützung des Kulturministeriums vorstellen. Und wir werden eine Carte Blanche des engagierten Grafikers Dugudus anbieten, der es übernehmen wird, die Wände der Weinkeller zum Sprechen zu bringen.
Das Centre photographique wird drei Ausstellungen beherbergen, die bis Mitte August verlängert wurden: Im Erdgeschoss die Arbeit von Laurent Elie Badessi über die Beziehung von Kindern zu Schusswaffen in den USA.
Im Obergeschoss die Residenz 2022, die der zarten Gabrielle Duplantier anvertraut wurde, die ihr intimes Universum in leuchtendem Schwarz-Weiß nach Sète verlegt hat. Das gemeinsam mit Le Bec en l'air herausgegebene Buch wird anlässlich des Festivals veröffentlicht.
Und an der Fassade die Diptychen des französisch-englischen Künstlers Raphaël Neal, die uns zu den Umwälzungen und Widersprüchen im Zusammenhang mit dem Klimawandel auffordern.
Das Projekt "A tree called home" des Schweden Kent Klich, Ergebnis einer zwanzigjährigen dokumentarischen Arbeit in einer psychiatrischen Klinik in der ehemaligen UdSSR, wird in die Kapelle des Quartier-Haut einziehen, und Camille Gharbis unverzichtbare fotografische Untersuchung über Frauenmorde "Faire face, histoires de violences conjugales" wird im Saal Tarbouriech zu sehen sein.
Die wertvolle Arbeit von Patrick Wack, die er vier Jahre lang in der Autonomen Region der Uiguren in Xinjiang durchgeführt hat, wird im ehemaligen Kino The Rio zu sehen sein. Ein Einblick in den Alltag dieser Minderheit auf dem Höhepunkt der Unterdrückung, der mit dem obszönen Wachstum des chinesischen Tourismus verglichen wird.
In Zusammenarbeit mit Gares & Connexions wird Tim Franco seine Polaroid-Porträts im Bahnhof von Sète präsentieren. Der polnisch-französische Fotograf, der in Seoul im Exil lebt, hat Menschen getroffen, die vor der Diktatur im Norden geflohen sind, um sich bei ihren Cousins im Süden niederzulassen.
In diesem Jahr erweitern wir unseren Parcours mit zwei Ausstellungen an den Ufern des Étang de Thau. Im Jardin Antique Méditerranéen in Balaruc-les-Bains wird Alexis Vettoretti "Die Bäuerinnen" enthüllen, die auf ihren Gesichtern die Spuren eines Jahrhunderts tragen, in dem sich unsere Gesellschaft von der Tradition in die Moderne verwandelt hat. Im Musée Ethnographique de l'Étang de Thau in Bouzigues lädt uns Sébastien Van Malleghem zu einer Traumreise zwischen einer mächtigen Natur und dem Menschsein ein.
Wir werden auch unsere ökologisch verantwortungsvollen Praktiken verstärken, indem wir dieses Jahr mit dem Architekturatelier dahu in Sète zusammenarbeiten, um wiederverwendbare szenografische Strukturen zu entwerfen.
ImageSingulières kehrt also zu seinen (guten) Gewohnheiten mit einem engagierten und für möglichst viele Menschen zugänglichen Programm zurück.
Les deux années durant lesquelles le festival a été empêché ont été productives. Nous avons tout d’abord regroupé, sous le nom ImageSingulières, le Centre photographique documentaire, notre espace d’activités à l’année (anciennement Maison de l’Image Documentaire créée en 2011) et le festival. Le Centre photographique a ensuite été agrandi, avec une superficie d’exposition doublée. Nous avons ainsi pu y présenter l’intégralité de la programmation du festival 2021, à raison de deux expositions tous les deux mois. Pour 2022, nous sommes enthousiastes et nous réjouissons de pouvoir convier à nouveau les passionné.e.s de photographie à notre quatorzième édition du festival ImageSingulières !
2022 marque aussi un retour aux sources dans l’un de nos lieux fétiches, le Chai des
Moulins, qui sera le coeur battant du festival. Nous y accueillerons, du jeudi 26 au dimanche 29 mai, les soirées de projections, le collectif d’éditeurs photo France PhotoBook, des rencontres-débats, de la musique et bien sûr des expositions.
Celle de Myriam Boulos, photographe libanaise lauréate du Grand Prix ISEM 2021 de la photographie documentaire et toute jeune membre de l’agence Magnum, nous donnera l’occasion de retracer l’histoire récente de Beyrouth. Nous présenterons aussi une importante scénographie du nouveau projet « Fragiles » du collectif Tendance Floue, avec le soutien du Ministère de la Culture. Et nous proposerons une carte blanche du graphiste engagé Dugudus qui se chargera de faire parler les murs des chais.
Le Centre photographique accueillera trois expositions, prolongées jusqu’à la mi-août : Au rez-de-chaussée, le travail de Laurent Elie Badessi sur la relation qu’entretiennent les enfants avec les armes à feu aux États-Unis.
À l’étage, la résidence 2022, confiée à la délicate Gabrielle Duplantier qui a transposé, à Sète, son univers intimiste au noir et blanc lumineux. Le livre co-édité avec Le Bec en l’air sera publié à l’occasion du festival.
Et sur la façade, les diptyques du franco-anglais Raphaël Neal, qui nous interpellent sur les bouleversements et les contradictions liés au changement climatique.
Le projet « A tree called home » du suédois Kent Klich, fruit d’un travail documentaire de vingt années dans un hôpital psychiatrique en ex-Urss, investira la Chapelle du Quartier-Haut et l’indispensable enquête photographique de Camille Gharbi sur les féminicides « Faire face, histoires de violences conjugales » sera présentée à la salle Tarbouriech.
Le précieux travail de Patrick Wack, mené pendant quatre ans dans la Région Autonome Ouïghoure du Xinjiang, sera à l’ancien cinéma The Rio. Une plongée dans le quotidien decette minorité au paroxysme de la répression mis en parallèle avec la croissance obscènedu tourisme chinois.
En partenariat avec Gares & Connexions, Tim Franco nous livrera ses portraits polaroids en gare de Sète. Ce photographe franco-polonais exilé à Séoul, a rencontré ceux qui ont fuit la dictature du nord pour s’installer chez leurs cousins du sud.
Cette année, nous élargissons notre parcours avec deux expositions sur les rives de l’étang de Thau. Au Jardin Antique Méditerranéen à Balaruc-les-Bains, Alexis Vettoretti dévoilera « Les paysannes », qui portent sur leurs visages les traces d’un siècle qui a vu notre société passer de la tradition à la modernité. Au Musée Ethnographique de l’Étang de Thau à Bouzigues, Sébastien Van Malleghem nous invitera à un voyage onirique entre une nature puissante et sa condition d’être humain.
Nous renforcerons également nos pratiques écoresponsables en collaborant cette année avec l’atelier d’architecture dahu, à Sète, pour la conception de structures scénographiques réutilisables.
ImageSingulières reprend donc ses (bonnes) habitudes avec une programmation engagée et accessible au plus grand nombre.
I due anni in cui il festival è stato impedito sono stati produttivi. Prima di tutto, abbiamo riunito, sotto il nome di ImageSingulières, il Centro del documentario fotografico, il nostro spazio di attività per tutto l'anno (ex Maison de l'Image Documentaire creata nel 2011) e il festival. Il Centro Fotografico è stato poi ampliato, raddoppiando lo spazio espositivo. Questo ci ha permesso di presentare l'intero programma del festival 2021, con due mostre ogni due mesi. Per il 2022, siamo entusiasti e impazienti di invitare gli appassionati di fotografia alla nostra quattordicesima edizione del festival ImageSingulières!
Il 2022 segna anche un ritorno alle nostre radici in uno dei nostri locali preferiti, il Chai des
Moulins, che sarà il cuore pulsante del festival. Da giovedì 26 a domenica 29 maggio, ospiteremo le proiezioni serali, il collettivo di redattori fotografici France PhotoBook, incontri e dibattiti, musica e, naturalmente, mostre.
La mostra di Myriam Boulos, fotografa libanese vincitrice del Gran Premio ISEM 2021 per la fotografia documentaria e giovane membro dell'agenzia Magnum, ci darà l'opportunità di ripercorrere la storia recente di Beirut. Presenteremo anche un'importante scenografia del nuovo progetto "Fragiles" del collettivo Tendance Floue, con il sostegno del Ministero della Cultura. E offriremo una carta bianca del grafico impegnato Dugudus, che farà parlare i muri della cantina.
Il Centre photographique ospiterà tre mostre, prorogate fino a metà agosto: Al piano terra, il lavoro di Laurent Elie Badessi sul rapporto tra bambini e armi da fuoco negli Stati Uniti.
Al piano superiore, la residenza 2022, affidata alla delicata Gabrielle Duplantier, che ha trasposto a Sète il suo mondo intimo di bianco e nero luminoso. Il libro, co-edito con Le Bec en l'air, sarà pubblicato in occasione del festival.
E sulla facciata, i dittici dell'artista franco-inglese Raphaël Neal, che richiamano gli sconvolgimenti e le contraddizioni legate al cambiamento climatico.

Il prezioso lavoro di Patrick Wack, realizzato durante quattro anni nella regione autonoma uigura dello Xinjiang, sarà all'ex cinema The Rio. Un'immersione nella vita quotidiana di questa minoranza all'apice della repressione, in contrasto con la crescita oscena del turismo cinese.
In collaborazione con Gares & Connexions, Tim Franco consegnerà i suoi ritratti in polaroid nella stazione di Sète. Questo fotografo franco-polacco, esiliato a Seul, ha incontrato coloro che sono fuggiti dalla dittatura del Nord per stabilirsi con i loro cugini nel Sud.
Quest'anno, estendiamo il nostro tour con due mostre sulle rive dell'Etang de Thau. Al Jardin Antique Méditerranéen di Balaruc-les-Bains, Alexis Vettoretti svelerà "Les paysannes", che portano sui loro volti le tracce di un secolo che ha visto la nostra società passare dalla tradizione alla modernità. Al Musée Ethnographique de l'Étang de Thau a Bouzigues, Sébastien Van Malleghem ci inviterà in un viaggio onirico tra una natura potente e la sua condizione umana.
Rafforzeremo anche le nostre pratiche eco-responsabili collaborando quest'anno con il laboratorio di architettura dahu di Sète, per la progettazione di strutture scenografiche riutilizzabili.
ImageSingulières torna così alle sue (buone) abitudini con un programma impegnato e accessibile al maggior numero di persone possibile.
The two years during which the festival was prevented were productive. First, we brought together, under the name ImageSingulières, the Photographic Documentary Center, our year-round activity space (formerly Maison de l'Image Documentaire created in 2011) and the festival. The Photographic Center was then expanded, with double the exhibition space. This allowed us to present the entire program of the 2021 festival, with two exhibitions every two months. For 2022, we are excited and looking forward to inviting photography enthusiasts to our fourteenth edition of the ImageSingulières festival!
2022 also marks a return to our roots in one of our favorite places, the Chai des
Moulins, which will be the beating heart of the festival. From Thursday, May 26 to Sunday, May 29, we will host the evening screenings, the France PhotoBook photo editors' collective, meetings and debates, music and, of course, exhibitions.
The exhibition of Myriam Boulos, Lebanese photographer and winner of the ISEM 2021 Grand Prix for documentary photography and young member of the Magnum agency, will give us the opportunity to retrace the recent history of Beirut. We will also present an important scenography of the new project "Fragiles" of the Tendance Floue collective, with the support of the Ministry of Culture. And we will propose a carte blanche by the engaged graphic designer Dugudus who will make the walls of the cellars speak.

We will also reinforce our eco-responsible practices by collaborating this year with the dahu architecture workshop in Sète, for the design of reusable scenographic structures.
ImageSingulières is back to its (good) habits with a committed and accessible program.
