Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie

Die Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie findet alle zwei Jahre in den wichtigsten Ausstellungshäusern der drei Städte Mannheim, Ludwigshafen und Heidelberg statt. Gezeigt werden Themenausstellungen von international renommierten Gastkurator*innen. Knapp 4.500 Quadratmeter Ausstellungsfläche bietet Platz für eine vielfältige Betrachtung aktueller fotografischer Positionen und schafft den Rahmen, über ein Medium nachzudenken, das unsere Gesellschaft prägt wie kaum ein anderes. Dabei spiegeln sich die mannigfaltigen Erscheinungsweisen der Fotografie in der Vielfalt der Orte wider, an denen sie präsentiert werden. Ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm begleitet die Ausstellungen und fördert den lebendigen Austausch über Fotografie.
Für die Realisierung der Biennale arbeiten Kulturveranstalter und -förderer der Metropolregion sowie nationale und internationale Künstler*innen und (Kooperations-)Partner eng zusammen. Die Biennale verbindet die drei Städte und ihre Kulturinstitutionen in einem städteübergreifenden Dialog miteinander und hat für diese Zusammenarbeit bundesweit Modellcharakter erlangt.
La biennale de la photographie actuelle a lieu tous les deux ans dans les principaux lieux d'exposition des trois villes de Mannheim, Ludwigshafen et Heidelberg. Des expositions thématiques sont présentées par des commissaires invités de renommée internationale*. Près de 4.500 mètres carrés de surface d'exposition offrent de la place pour un examen varié des positions photographiques actuelles et créent le cadre pour réfléchir à un média qui marque notre société comme aucun autre. Les multiples manifestations de la photographie se reflètent dans la diversité des lieux où elles sont présentées. Les organisateurs et promoteurs culturels de la région métropolitaine ainsi que les artistes nationaux et internationaux et les partenaires (de coopération) collaborent étroitement à la réalisation de la biennale. La biennale relie les trois villes et leurs institutions culturelles dans un dialogue interurbain et a acquis un caractère de modèle dans toute l'Allemagne pour cette coopération.
La Biennale di Fotografia Contemporanea si svolge ogni due anni nelle più importanti sedi espositive delle tre città di Mannheim, Ludwigshafen e Heidelberg. Vengono mostrate mostre tematiche di curatori ospiti di fama internazionale. Quasi 4.500 metri quadrati di spazio espositivo offrono spazio per un esame diversificato delle posizioni fotografiche attuali e creano un quadro per riflettere su un mezzo che modella la nostra società come quasi nessun altro. Le molteplici manifestazioni della fotografia si riflettono nella diversità dei luoghi in cui vengono presentate. Un ampio programma di supporto accompagna le mostre e promuove un vivace scambio sulla fotografia. Organizzatori culturali e promotori della regione metropolitana, così come artisti nazionali e internazionali e partner (di cooperazione) lavorano in stretta collaborazione per realizzare la Biennale. La Biennale collega le tre città e le loro istituzioni culturali in un dialogo tra le città ed è diventata un modello per questa cooperazione a livello nazionale.
The Biennale for Contemporary Photography takes place every two years in the most important exhibition venues of the three cities of Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Heidelberg. Thematic exhibitions by internationally renowned guest curators are shown. Almost 4,500 square meters of exhibition space offer room for a diverse examination of current photographic positions and create the framework to reflect on a medium that shapes our society like no other. The manifold manifestations of photography are reflected in the diversity of the places where they are presented. An extensive supporting program accompanies the exhibitions and promotes a lively exchange about photography.For the realization of the Biennale, cultural organizers and promoters of the metropolitan region as well as national and international artists* and (cooperation) partners work closely together. The Biennale connects the three cities and their cultural institutions in a cross-city dialog and has become a model for this cooperation nationwide.
